Ok you lot ...
While i was making my new cowl ,who borrowed my speedo and didnt return it ? Ah ,own up . While you are at it you can return my trip meter . I
know from my place to Kenilworth and return is about 100 kl .NOT 4.6 kl .And you thought i wouldnt notice .
And least tell me where you put it , its annoying travelling at about 115 and speedo reads 0 .
I havnt started looking for it yet , so tell me where it has gone and i'll let the matter drop .

Re: Ok you lot ...
When i unplug the top speed plug all is well .When i plug it back in to the healer it reads E or an F upside down and no speedo .
Any ideas apart from disconnecting the top speed plug .?
Bhuffo and Paul stealing my speedo and posting silly comment is not my idea of funny .Well it is actually ,but i want it back .

Re: Ok you lot ...
I had a similar problem with my 650 Gus
Turns out it was actually the sensor down by the sprocket cover
I could be completely wrong but perhaps worth a look?

Electrics!! Damn hard to find the problem sometimes...
I once had a Cordia Turbo - bought it new.. Was driving it sometimes and it would just stop - would wind over but not start again. Leave it for a few hours and it would start fine until it did it again - sometimes months later. At other times it just wouldn't start from cold - then tap the inlet manifold a couple of times with the back of a screw driver and away it might go... As it was under warranty I had it towed a couple of times to the dealer when it was actually having the problem but then it would start for them and all would be fine.... after months of changing loads of electronic bits (including the on-board computer) and the problem still occurring - they changed the fuel pump. From then on it never played up... just an intermittent connection issue somewhere in the pump..

Re: Ok you lot ...
How about this ?
The lead of the top speed readout has a tiny red button on the end .I'm thinking that is just a switch .When you press it in it makes a connection to
allow a currant to flow though .Release it and currant stops .When i connected the wire to a test light the light comes on WITHOUT pressing
the button .
Faulty button maybe .Stuck on .????

Just checked mine with a voltmeter, one wire reads +5v the other close to zero. My Healer had 125kph stored as it's max speed (yes I know that is pretty low). When the red button was pushed the reading would show on the dash, and the Healer would show a count down from 5, when it reached zero the dash would go back to 0 kph. I measured the resistance between the two wires and it appeared to be open when not pressed and short when pressed.
Then I got adventuristic, I shorted the two wires with an amp meter, didn't see much if any current reading, however the dash stayed at 0 kph. Pressed the red button, still 0 kph showing. Now the Healer is no longer showing the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 countdown but displays an "E" when the button is pressed. I disconnected the dash, and both cables from the Healer, put it all back together, still the "E".
I am hoping all that happened is the Healer has zeroed itself (E = empty register maybe).
I'll recheck everything once I put it all back together and go for a run. The Helalers offset calculatiion could also be zeroed, this might explain the readings you see Gus. Will let you know if it is as I suspect, otherwise we might be doing a bulk order of new Healers.....
Power cycle
Nothing to do with push bikes eh.
When all turns to s**t with electronic gadgets probably the easist (and cheapest) thing to do first is to remove and restore power to the offending item.

Amazing what you find when you read the manual:barry_mcki wrote:

3.7 Top Speed Memory function
Connect the 2-pole plug of the remote button to the unit’s TSM socket.
The SH continuously records the highest speed in Flash memory.
- To recall the top speed, press and release the remote button. The top speed is shown on the speedometer for a few seconds, and the SH display will count from [5 to 0].
- To reset the Top Speed Memory, press and hold the remote button for at least 2 seconds.
The speedometer will read 0, and the SH display will indicate [E] (Erased).
So hopefully the units are ok
Re: Ok you lot ...
Not mine .Without top speed connected ,speedo works .Connected, no work .Can someone tell Stephanie im still not interested .Turning into a bloody

Re: Ok you lot ...
Sounds like the switch is shorted if you are getting the "E" as soon as you plug it in. And because it zero's the top speed reading after 2 seconds it would be doing strange things to the Healtech.
It appears to be a simple push to operate type switch, just wire in another and see if it works as before, or if you aren't interested in top speed leave it off like you've done.
Haven't seen Stephanie down this way for awhile, she could have run into the back of the Allianz girl in the glasses though, but I think she's been waiting a lot longer than the 2 minutes for her quote.

Re: Ok you lot ...
I'm thinking the switch is stuck on. I know if i pull it apart ill stuff it but an attractive switch might be the answer .At least i could use it with a glove on.

On a side note, would a newer model dashboard(I suppose thats what it is) fit into a 2008 1250? and.. would all the functions work correctly?

My guess is that you would have to resplice all the wiring to fit the different main plug. Why would you want to change anyway ? I like the 2 dial model dash over the latest one . JMO.

On the workbench, of all the places to put it .
I decided the fault had to be in the little red button being stuck on .Got the snips and cut its head off , reconnected and it all works. A new (larger)
button should have top speed back also .

Re: Ok you lot ...
Bought a new press button switch ,need to hold down to be "on". A good size which could be pressed with a glove on .I dont really use the top speed
read-out much but it is handy to see how much you have broken the law by accident .$4.5o from Jaycar .
I didnt want to advertise a Top Speed button and since the original one corroded up due to no fairing to deflect water i looked for a new spot .This is where i put it .Much better than that silly original .Glad the old one died ,water now runs off ,rather than in .
