My first front wheel Stand Empty My first front wheel Stand

Post  Kaupy1962 Sat 25 Feb 2012, 2:05 pm

Went for a run up to the supermarket yesterday and as I got to the roundabout there was a bloke in a fairlane front of me. There was 2 metres between him and me. I turned my head slightly to check to the right and as there was nothing I looked ahead again entered the roundabout only to find that the moron had for no reason suddenly slammed his brakes on. Quick reflexes I grabbed the front brake knowing that I had no way out but to hit him. The front wheel locked and skidded 1 metre and then I felt the rear end heading toward the sky. I could hear people on the footpath yelling "OH NO". After reaching almost vertical and then coming down again my vocabulary could be heard for miles. The stupid thing about the whole thing is, that if I had of hit him, it would've been my fault. Even though he hit the brakes for no reason.

Do you really think 2 meters is a safe traveling distance behind another vehicle ? Hope you learnt a lesson.

Yep. Heaps of room when you only doing 10kph. Never had a problem in the 31 years on a bike till now. It was pension day and if you ever lived in Wangaratta you'd know that pension day is a big worry. 80 years + are on the roads

Mate, glad you are OK. I gather it's a non-ABS bike?

Times we get a fright we learn something. I always do. I hate it when you are following another car out of an intersection, look right and then look straight ahead to find they have changed their mind for some reason.

Right on Kewwig, exactly. Got a bit of a fright but I think the bloke in the car would have had to go home and change his pants after hearing me yell.

Glad everything worked out and calmness has descended again.
A mate in the panel trade sales them "repair abouts".
