An interesting week
I had a couple of phone calls this week out of the blue .
The first was from the hospital telling me I was to report in yesterday for a pre-op examination to have a couple of hernias sorted next Wednesday . One in my naval (now an outy instead of an inny ) & one in a previous scar ( kidney cancer & spleen )
I`d been waiting well over a year to have this done , so whoo hoo , now I will have some where to put my dipping sauce again when I`m eating my chips laying on the lounge when they fix the old belly button.... LOL.
The second call was from Keith ,the brother of a mate who died a year ago ( brain tumor )
" hello Paul how`s it goin. Suppose your wonderin. why I called ? It`s just that we think your an arsehole & haven`t seen you for such a bloody long time to tell you ...... HA HA HA HA HA "
Me ........." Thanks mate but it`s ok ,Sue ( my wife ) still makes me write it out ten times before I leave the house so I don`t forget . Whats happening ?
"Dave`s been dead 12 months now & were doing another ride for him with some of the Vets & his old patch club if your
interested ."
I must have met Dave when I was around 10 & although we drifted apart for a while while family stuff was going on we still saw each other sometimes along with a some others we hung out with when we were young & stupid .
Interested ......shit yea .......life long mates are rare & to be hung on to even if it`s only the memories when they`re no longer here.
About an hour later Dave`s widow rang to also let me know ( didn`t know Keith was so resourceful to find my number ) & asking if I will let the rest of our old mob know about it . The funny thing is .........when we`re all together again , it`s just like we`re just a bunch of teenagers again hanging out like we used to ......all be it 60 year old ones .

Its strange being 60 isn't it. You think your 35 but when you look in the mirror there is some old dude looking back at you .
60 is not as bad as i thought it would be when i was young .Actually its pretty much the same , just slower moving in the morning .

Re: An interesting week
I think working ( not necessarily at a work place ) & riding bikes help keep our minds active & young . (even forums like this one Keep the wheels turning ) Unfortunately some of us got the leyland P76 or the Edsel body to go with it though .
Mates & partners/family also help prolong life`s eventual rot & give us a reason to be .
I don`t know why but today`s 60 year olds seems to be a younger 60 than in say my parents time , maybe its just down to your frame of mind or maybe its just easier looking back than forwards sometimes .

Re: An interesting week
The big 5 0 for me this year and I don't feel any different. Well, apart from the stiff joints and L5 rotation in my spine that has to be spun back every month because I've lifted something I shouldn't have. And the bandit's getting heavier. All my old mates except for one are dead. Motor bike accidents unfortunately.

Re: An interesting week
i might have said this before somewhere but the bandit is the first bike i have had in about 20 plus years. the last one was a gsx1100 [and seceral before that]. anyway about a week after i got it i was starting to think 'these things are rather heavier than i seem to recall' - even though its about the same size. also for years i used to get a crippling back ache to the point where i was screaming in pain and had to have pethidine on a couple of really bad occasions. anyway i satrted doing some exercise and the difference it makes is incredible - dips [on a park bench] and pushups. ive worked up to 80 dips [in two lots of 40] plus now 35 pushups in one hit every day except sundays and heavy rain ....bear in mind that was starting out with about 3 dips and one pushup.........
the good part is that now i am stronger than i have ever been and can lug the bike and otehr things quite easilty and in fact look forwrd to the exercises plus a 20 minute walk. and no sign of a bad back at all which i had all my life - the only down side is that doing it is torure and hateful when you first start. however after only 18months you will stop hating it and start liking it

I bet you couldn't do 1 push-up with that girl on your bike sitting on your back.

Getting a packet of porn movies ( not gay preferably ) in the post could still make for an interesting week though

Why my more life experienced friends, Why do porn movies go for over an hour? 2minutes in heaven is all that is needed. 4minutes, you better call me an Ambulance.

My flatmate and I were just talking about this exact subject while I was browsing and happened to stumble on this!
At the tender age of 46 I actually feel like a 20 year old, , , but I'm buggered if I can find one
