After i chopped mine up with an axe i'll slap myself if you get $250 for the can .I hope you do though ,even though it will make me look silly .(not the
first time )
Which opens up a great debate ,how much is a hardly used original can worth ?
This may not help you Suz,ban so do we have your consent to try and work it out ??
It has to be worth somewhere between what i thought it was worth (the link pipe ) and $250 .Actually we all know they are worth more than $250
but what can you get for them is the question .

Morning Gus. Yes, I to have one original, still like new, gigantic, heavy can in a box in the shed. Cant see me ever useing or selling it. Firstly . Why would I. And second. Cause No one else would want it either. I would guess that makes it worth ..... scrap metal . Not much. Makes ya wonder just how many original cans are sitting in sheds all round the world.

funny you should say that !
I had been riding around for a while on the stock can before upgrading and saw it on ebay and thought it would be handy to replace if bike tipped over and damaged the original at the time (they cost over $1000 for suzuki new) but prob $200 to $250 from wreckers
price reduced to $100

cannot speak for other states but isn't the NSW fun police recommending that aftermarket parts be banned, if thats the case it might pay to keep it could be a bit expensive if you sell it
and why would anyone buy one it sort of a unsale able item unless i was selling my bike and was buying a newer one

Impossible. Your bike would be illegal when you replaced the tyres.Jimcoleman wrote:cannot speak for other states but isn't the NSW fun police recommending that aftermarket parts be banned, if thats the case it might pay to keep it could be a bit expensive if you sell it

No way in the world I'd flog my standard muffler.
At least in NSW it only takes getting wheeled by a Highway Patrolman in a bad mood to have a defect slapped on for having an "exhaust system that does not comply"
To have the defect notice cleared you need to re-fit the standard system & have the bike inspected at an authorised inspection station. Otherwise the rego is cancelled by the RTA.
Really all of us with after market exhaust systems ( most of us I'd imagine) are taking a punt.
Cheers,

Not really. The only way a muffler "does not comply" is if its too loud. Yes you may be defected on the roadside but if its under the DB limit or can easily be brought under go for the test and ride off.
Re: 2010 Stock muffler Bandit 1250 / shorty levers
Pretty sure in NSW the muffler has to have manufacturers DB level information stamped on it & be under the noise level in a test, to be legal.
Each to their own, but I reckon it would be a far easier & less costly process to re-fit the stocker to clear a defect.
Otherwise you'd have to open up the aftermarket muffler, re-pack it or similar to get the noise down, & have it tested & stamped by someone approved to do so ( if you could find a place that does this ??)
