Exhaust noise
Recently I exchanged the muffler to a Yoshimira in order to provide some awareness for cars that I approach
from behind. I am really pleased with this except for the back fire noise on deceleration. Can anyone offer any solution?

Re: Exhaust noise
You need to block the pair system. Or get rid of it. I'm sure Gus or someone else took some pics of how to block it.

PAIR's removal<<<<Click there. read 1 or all for the quick fix or full removal to fix the back fire>
Re: Exhaust noise
PAIRS blocking will fix it but have you got a good seal between the collector and the link pipe? Did you use the woven gasket?
Mine doesn't pop much at all (Beowulf) because its not sucking air half way along the system.
A "good fit" isn't good enough.

The Yoshi is a tight fit on the collector and no gasket is used. The popping is the PAIR and plugging will fix it with no ill effects

With respect. Bullshit. If that's the case the stocker would pop as well. Have a listen to others hat don't sound like a machine gun.kewwig wrote:4wheelsagain wrote:PAIRS blocking will fix it but have you got a good seal between the collector and the link pipe? Did you use the woven gasket?

Removing PAIRS stops the popping no question. It might be a case that the Yoshi flange wont accept the gasket and removing PAIRS is he only option.

They don't need it mate!
The standard popes too. It's very big and very baffled.
Re: Exhaust noise
Even if you aren't using a gasket you should still be using a smear of muffler/exhaust sealant.

Re: Exhaust noise
Well I ran it for over 2years without exhaust sealer and 6 months with it, now 4 months without. The only difference is the sealer makes it hard to get the Can offmadmax wrote:Even if you aren't using a gasket you should still be using a smear of muffler/exhaust sealant.
Re: Exhaust noise
I'm with Reardo on this one. Yoshimura don't specify gasket sealer for their mufflers. They are a tight fit to the link pipe, and with or without any sealer (no way a gasket fits), they pop the same without the PAIR blocked. As Reardo says, sealer just makes it a bitch to get off. If you had a major air leak you may get a little more popping, but having done a few now, it's the PAIR.
I am told the stock pipe also pops, but because it's so heavily baffled, you simply don't hear it

Aren't you afraid of CO leaking into the cockpit at suffocating you?

Re: Exhaust noise
I got the Yoshi R77 Carbon End and no issues about leaks. I even followed the instructions on drilling a 5mm hole to insert the locking rivet on the link pipe and header joint. - I used the Busa Marble Trick!!!, went to a $2 shop and got some marbles, they fit nicely to the hose from the airbox leading to the PAIR system. Backfire gone!!!
I liked it at first but it got to a point that it its irritating. :-)
