AUSTRALIAN police could soon become Easy Riders.
Harley-Davidson Ultra-Glide motorcycles has completed one-year trials with the Australian Federal and NSW police.
Harley-Davidson Australia boss Peter Nochar said the company was tendering for one state police force and he is confident the bikes will soon return to policing duties here.
"We don't want to have every police force in the country on Harleys but we think we deserve a place," he says.
Harleys were first used here in the West Australian police force, which recently disbanded its motorcycle section.
They were last used by police in the 2000 Olympics.
"One of the great things the police have found about using Harleys is that people come up to the police, talk to them and want their photo taken with them," Mr Nochar said.[/quote]
Ya gota love that, now they might have a use for those unmarked commodore Utes they have, and remember if you get followed by one just head for the nearest down hill load of twisties
ooh yeah

Re: NSW cop Harley's
I can't see the copper's who ride being in a hurry to jump off the Beemers here.
Don't know about other forces but BMW have done good service here.
Ceremonial duties could be different.

Oh well, at least they will be easy to lose on the Bandit.
And if you get caught... "Sorry officer, i thought you were one of those violently dangerous, drug dealing, gun weilding bikers that you are always warning us about so I took off in fear of my life" or "I thought you could be a member of the Village People and feared for my heterosexuality." Either way, you'll get off in court.
