Anyone know of a small rack?
Just 'personalising' and adding some bits to my new ride 2010 gs1250s.. Have a tank bag coming but thought it would be a great idea if there was a small rack just above the tail piece , you know just big enough to strap a small bag or parcel to... anyone seen anything.. Ive seen the Givi ones and they look about the same size but didnt really want that expense or conectivity.. was thisnking bout the whole top box thing too at one stage but the gigv is too expesive .. any others you guys know of.. ?

I think the best rack system is the "Ventura". Looks good, is good. Also check out their luggage. They have just brought out a new 47lt pack bag that looks very nice.

If your looking for just a small one Ventura do a smaller one to the norm.
Ventura Sport Rack
Ventura racks on the Bandit means you lose the grab rail as the rack uses the same mount points
as in this photo (with standard rack)

Sorry, my rack is too large for small parcels....
if you want a rack for you bike, I can recommend the Ventura one. if you buy the larger version with a bag, you can buy and swap out the rack section, without removing the main fittings, with the sports rack and viceversa.

I have a rack built to hold an RJays Explorer bag (or Ventura bag).
I fitted it to my GSF1200 but the GSF1250 came with a topbox so it is now surplus.
PM me if interested and I will send some photos.
BTW I'm in Mackay so postage may need to be considered

Re: Anyone know of a small rack?
You need to be careful with the Venturas, there are about a dozen different sizes of the racks, you would think they would have bent up the bike attachment fittings so all fit the one rack, not so.
The Bandit is the 12 series, they are 258mm between the centres of the adaptor fittings and a post height of 5mm. This is from the US Ventura site so prices over here would be slightly more with shipping:
PF12 main larger rack,
SR12 for the sports, and
GH12 for the grab handle
All 1250's are series 12, as well as the 1200 K6. 1200 K1's (2000-05) need series 13.
I just ordered a sports rack and bag from someone who is selling his Ninja ER6 - same series 12 fitting (278mm centres).
There is a sports rack on eBay at the moment but it has 310mm centres (series 16).

Re: Anyone know of a small rack?
Those prices are dirt cheap given it says the L-bracket is already included.

Sensational. Too good to be true?Ewok1958 wrote:Those prices are dirt cheap given it says the L-bracket is already included.
The Ventura site I have seen adds at least $100 to those prices.
Re: Anyone know of a small rack?
There is no way you are getting the brackets as well for those prices .Strange wording

Re: Anyone know of a small rack?
It says it's a wizard, so presumably you picked your bike , which gives you the mounting system, then at this step you pick options, those are the prices of the options and you come out with a total at the end. Just seems strange because it is a snap-shot of part of the process.
Re: Anyone know of a small rack?
Well there you go.. I had no idea I was supossed to face the bag forwards when riding by myself.
I just always left it with the bag facing backwards..
Also, if you buy the ventura bag, just buy the larger 'square' bag, The smaller 'triangle' shaped one is poorly designed IMO as the weight hangs on the zip, which fails pretty quickly.
I have no idea on the sport bag, but I doubt it would hold much at all.

Re: Anyone know of a small rack?
I only ever turn my Bag around if its raining or it gets saturated
Sports bag is good. you would fit a 6 pack in it easy with room for a cpl of holders .
I use the sports bag for commuting to work. has my rain suit and can fit my wallet and phone no worries

Don't know what happened to my reply, sorry if this turns up twice....
Yes, these prices where only the rack portion of the wizard, here is the final screen with all the parts loaded:
Re: Anyone know of a small rack?
I want the "pack rack" but with the grab handle mounts which doesn't seem to be listed by anyone.
The same as mad Max's second pic.
