Suzuki Seriously?
This is a rant relating to 4 wheels.
My partner has a brand new Suzuki Swift. Top of the range. Fantastic little car all is well.
Yesterday someone decided they needed the plastic plugs that cover the hole in the roof where you can fit roof racks more than she did so they knocked them off. I believe in karma so they will get what they deserve.
I called the dealer this morning to get the replacements. Not in stock have to be ordered and they’re $11 each! WTF?
These hard plastic push in plugs are about 100mm long and 20mm wide and would be stamped out by the thousands for the Suzuki range.
$11 each! Not surprising they wanted $800 for a B1250 starter motor in that case.
End rant.

Tell me about it 4WA. When I was getting all the little missing bits for my 1200 , I ordered all the bolts for the grab rail and the two little plastic plugs that go in the ends of the bolts were $5 each ! I know. I could have gone to a bolt shop.

Lucky you don;t own a Yamaha. I helped a mate rebuild his R1 after it cartwheeled down the road. I got all the parts from EBay mostly. The only things he needed to buy were 4 bolts for the subframe. The local dealer charged him $25 a bolt! Unbelievable

Three small screws that go in the bottom of the B12 clutch basket, $3 each!

I win, in my Eunos 30x (Mazda) I needed the sunroof switch. Phone Mazda, new one had to come from Japan, $835 + SHIPPING????????????
WTF, phones up a local wreckers, $150 later I was sorted. es it was a 2nd hand part but gee, even $150 was a rip off in my opinion.
For the B12 I just bought a bearing? for the clutch lever, $6.00. Not too bad I guess....

Money is not made on the car, bike, etc anymore (maybe it never was)
The profits are made from the spares and replacement parts

I think it was Repco VS Holden in Court many years ago now. Holden wouldn't let anyone make after market parts for there cars.
I can't think what it's called, but Holden could name there price on parts. Thank fuck for places like Repco

Henry Ford was keen to give away his cars for nothing as long as people would only buy the spare parts of him. Couldn't be guaranteed, so he didn't give any away. Spares is where the cash is.

Re: Suzuki Seriously?
Our family car is a 3 litre V6 Mazda MPV (I ride the bike to maintain some semblance of sanity). The AC got a bit musty, and I decided to replace the cabin air filter. It's a small pleated paper filter behind the glovebox. Rang Repco and they don't have one. Nothing aftermarket in NZ, so I thought I'd ring Mazda for the genuine one. Pleated paper - couldn't be that expensive, right?
The parts guy, said "I have one in stock, but I think you won't like the price". He was right. $230 bloody dollars.
I got a new one off EBay for USD$30. A taillight was $500 in NZ from Mazda and about $90 US from Ebay. Someone is giving it to us here.
Mind you, I had an 05 Holden Vectra. $800 for new rear disks that needed replacing every second set of pads. Not funny.

Re: Suzuki Seriously?
Same motor in the MPV. V6 with the rear cylinders buried under the inlet manifold. Plugs take 3 - 4 hrs to do with extensive disassembly at a hideous price unless you can do it yourself (as I did). Give me a bike any day
