Two Insurance Companies
This week I have been blessed with two bills for the Bandit.
Thats what you get for buying a new bike.
Reg and Ins always come together.
Anyway one company is public with shareholders etc. They seem to think I'm a pretty good risk
The other is a government insurance monopoly answerable to no one and they seem to think I'm a poor risk
I'm glad I don't live in suburbia!

Pretty Happy in Nth East Vic.
New 4 wk old Bandit.
Rego including TAC = $420.30
RACV fully comphrensive agreed value at $12500 = $207 including Life Time Premier1 Rating protection.
Going to up the agreed value to $13,000 soon. But you have to cancel the policy, get refund via cheque and re engage it to new policy.

The rego amount is interesting. As far as I know Vic Roads only have a suburban rate and a rural rate so how they get $420 I don't know but good luck to you. I've been with RACV before but they didn't want to know me on the Bandit. Rating 1 and all! That was two years ago. Could be worth a call this year by the looks.

Re: Two Insurance Companies
A few yrs back RACV got more serious with Boat and Bike insurances, etc.
My boat was with Clubmarine and it was expensive with RACV being dearer. Three yrs ago I re checked and found RACV was almost $200 cheaper tham Clubmarine with my Boat on agreed value.
My Brother told me to go with insuremyride and they were double RACV's price for me. He got a quote with RACV and it was much cheaper (BMW), so when his policy expires he is changing over.
When I accidentially wrecked my double panel roller door last summer, RACV had it approved for total replacement in two days and gave me a new door motor as well for it. Even though was house is 8yrs old.
My bike is a brand new late 2010 BanditS, so lucky to find a 2010 model much cheaper than a 2011 dated one.
I've nothing to do with RACV, just insure 4cars, boat, bike, contents and house with them and my name is Garry, not Jason

Re: Two Insurance Companies
Be happy with your lot and be glad you're not living in the NT.
For a bike to be legal in the NT we pay $745.05 for 12 months (Rego and CTPI). The Rego component of that lot is just $15.00, the rest is compulsory third party (injury) Territory Insurance Office (TIO) component. A V8 Landcurser is around $600.
This fee is for any bike over 600cc. Between 250 and 600cc is marginally cheaper. 250cc is about 1/2 the cost and a 125cc is about $108.00.
It hurts...
Bill.
