Hi-Vis helmet
I am going all out to maximise my visibility, as Kiwi cagers are mad and blind. Got LED bullet lights, hi vis vest etc, but couldn't face a white helmet. I saw these helmets the other day at the local dealer and got one for NZD$290 (AUD$220). I am pleasantly surprised with the quality, including comfort and weight (1550g). As an every day commuting helmet, it's good, but best of all, I stand out like the dog's proverbials and a mate says he can see me for hundreds of metres.

It's got an integral tinted lens assembly, flip face (great around town). Outstanding for the price.
People either like or hate Hi-vis. I'm not after a benefits war, just raising this helmet as an option for those who want hi-vis.

Can you fit an orange flashing light on top to further increase visibility?

I'm with you Jaba. Orange hi vis all the way at our work place. When I rock up in my bike gear I get questioned about my hi vis.

Re: Hi-Vis helmet
My last two helmets have been white but I've never been accused of having good taste, however I've always valued function over form and I find white very visible and cooler in the summer.
Anyway I'm all in favour of whatever makes you happy and makes you safer.
FWIW I like the hi-vis.

Re: Hi-Vis helmet
I have always tried to be as visible as possible, and it's actually been quite hard to see white helmets in stock anywhere. One dealer I spoke to said he didn't stock them as they didn't sell well. It'll be interesting to see if the Hi Vis ones are popular. I have had a lot of good feedback, and people really seem to notice it. I do somehow wonder if I will ever see anyone on a Harley wearing one... (mind you, I saw someone on a Sportster in a hi vis vest the other day, which was a rarity)

I work in a high vis environment and I recon you get used to it and after a while it no longer stands out!

That's a good point, but I wouldn't call bikes a hi vis environment. Black and shades of black is still the colour of choice

Re: Hi-Vis helmet
I too work in a high vis work place (sounds like a AA meeting ).
I cover a large area by the old foot falcon and walk passed Centrelink a minimum of 6 times a day and half the people that go in there wear Hi-Vis.
There's not to many jobs left that don't require High visibility clothing in some way.
15 years ago, on the old 1985 XR250 (the L's & P's days). I tried to be seen as much as possible. the amount times I had the rear locked up for cage drivers was unbelievable. Well most of time I noticed they would shit them selves if there was tyre smoke . So I'd lock it up, then shake my head at them lol
Knock no wood, they see me most of the time on the Bandit

Re: Hi-Vis helmet
Gus - not sure which part of the Arai visor system you don't like. The visor mounting system I think is excellent 30 sec to R and R a visor with no tools will do me just fine - the little locking button thingy to lock the visor just cracked open, now that's a PITA, especially wearing gloves.

Re: Hi-Vis helmet
I have the same issue as Gus. I have tried many different types and the one that fits perfect is the Shoei range grrrrr. I dropped my old black one the other day and it mad a loud crack noise. No visible sign of damage to the shell. Tested with a pen over the suspect area and sure enough the is a dull sound compared to the rest of the helmet. Fortunately for me the local dealer has an overstock off shoei's at the moment and managed to pick up a nice XR1100 Symmetry in Blue and white for $599.

Yeah I'm the same as you Mpottsy, I tried and tried to get a cheaper helmet, but the only one that really fit was the Shoei.

Re: Hi-Vis helmet
Are they wearing AS 1698 compliance stickers????
If not, anyone wearing them in Oz risks all manner of legal complication if detected wearing them, or worse still have an accident whilst wearing one.
