Re: back packs
depends upon what type of backpack you're after!
I have an Axio from PMR here
very good bag - so good that I also use one of their tank bags!

I bought one from Big W - it's quite good. I use it occassionally when commuting but on long rides I find it can make my shoulders/back sore if there's too much weight in it.

Fair point Gus - I only use it now if I'm commuting on the wife's VL250, it doesn't have a rack.gus wrote:I never quite understood the backpack thing .I thought that was why Ventura was invented .

Better not tell the wife she doesn't have a rack
I use an Andy Strapz shoulder bag for commuting and one of 2 seat bags for touring. Hate the look ov Ventura type frames on bikes unless actually loaded up.

I found backpacks so uncomfortable after as little as 30 minutes riding. I ended up getting a Motodry tank bag for $150. Totally modular with two compartments even has shoulder straps for carrying whey you reach your destination. It can be separated into a smaller bag with just one compartment. It even came with bungy straps so the bag can be attached as a tail bag. This is one of the best purchases i made. Managed a who week riding to Melbourne and back with just this pack and a 39l givi topbox.

The Bag has its own bracket for easy on easy off and the bag doesnt touch the paint.
The larger bags are expensive but for the quality and reviews i have read about them are probably worth it.
