G'day

Still finding my way around this site so if there are any spelling mistakes blame it on inexperience Very Happy . I have 3 bikes- 1974 Norton Commando, R1150RT and my new Bandit S which I bought on the 31/12/10. I have always rode twin cylinder machines and never considered a multi - too revvy, too little torque, too .... In 09 I went out to buy a new Suzuki 650SV to use as daily transport and left the dealership, without test riding, with a 08 run out model Z750. Definitely not my sort of bike but I have enjoyed riding it and I have had some exciting times trying to get my head around it. Upshot - I found that all the "too" bits were not applicable. So I started considering a multi to replace my BM.
I wanted the new Triumph GT but after 2 extended rides I found that the ergonomics were not for me. I finished each ride with severe wrist pains which took days to ease. On one of my visits to the dealers my wife spotted the Bandit but I ignored it as I needed paniers etc. I went back to the dealers, on the Z750, for a third time to try the GT as that was the bike I wanted.
I sat on the Bandit and noted the one piece bars could be raised, turned or replaced as required. So I traded the Z750 and picked the bandit S the next day. The day I picked it up was the first time I heard the engine run or sat on it with the wheels turning.
It goes in on Wed, for its first service. To this point I am very pleased with the performance, extreme wet weather handling -I have yet to ride it in the dry. As noted in my original post the only problem has been a very bad burn to the wife's leg, a combination of; exhaust on opposite side to BM, wife gets on the left and off the right, exhaust is very large and not shielded and the wife chose NOT to wear her boots on the initial ride.
Thank you to everyone who replied with suggestions re solution I have taken them all on board and the wife has ignored the suggestion re licence.

welcome to the torque

maybe train your wife to mount/dismount like it's a horse - always to the left. that way there should be less chance of body modifications

Welcome aboard - and just to think outside the square, maybe mod it with a 4-1-2 - then your wife would have a good chance of evening up the current unbalanced leg mods! Basketball Basketball

Welcome. Get rid of the bazook exhaust and all is good.

The torque from the Bandit is very reasonable. an 11.4 ish pass @ 195kph says it's not bad at the strip either for a 12-13k bike. It'll also lug full panniers, top box and the wife no problems, Givi panniers have been tested to over the speed limit and the bike is still extremely stable.
