Jindabyne Jan Feb 23
Headed off from Newcastle area on a 5 day trip down to Jindabyne last week. 1st night at Young, 2 nights at Jindabyne, last night at Blayney.
Monday started well with the 5 of us heading off in the rain.
We stopped at Denman for coffee, so did the rain. Started up again, yep, so did the rain. Headed to Rylstone via the Bylong Valley, dodging the pot holes, ruts etc. Found a lovely concrete culvert with shallow flowing water and as we discovered about 20mm of slime on the bottom. After a couple of 🤬 moments we were all through & headed up a steep twisty climb where there was a diesel/oil slick on one of the curves.
After a few more kms, a sign said "water over road" , " more like a f-ing river " was one riders thoughts.
Luckily it too had a concrete bottom, no slime, about 400mm deep but only 5m long. All ploughed through with no dramas.
A bit further along, " gravel road" so the sign said. Not a piece of gravel, just the throughly wet, slippery road base. Very soft & 2nd gear at idle just resulted in wheelspin so 1st was the go. 1.5 km later & a few more 🤬🤬 moments we were back on the tar .
Again, when we stopped for lunch, so did the rain.
The 5 bikes were looking more like MX bikes, only the adventure bike looked to be in its natural environment. Amazing how much splatter was on our clothes too.
Headed towards Bathurst then Cowra & grabbed some juice.
As we left Cowra we hit a heavy storm, it absolutely pissed down for 30min & with visibility was down to about 60m we putted along along at about 50-60 kmh. On the bright side, the bikes were clean, all clothing also throughly washed and sunshine.
Arrived at Young still soaked, laughing at the days events, hoping for no more rain & after dinner & few beers it was off to bed ready for the next day.
Too wet to taking pics, but took plenty over the next 4 days.
TBC.

Day 2.
Cloudy & threatening to rain. Destination was Jindabyne.
Left Young on the Olympic Hwy for Cootamundra for brekky at "Helen's Coffee Lounge", great food & coffee. Left Coota & went across to the Hume Hwy passing through Muttama & Coolac. Headed south to Gundagai & took Gocup rd to Tumut. That bit of road has beautiful flowing corners over hills & down the valleys. Lots of roadworks & bridgework at Tumut. Took Snowy Mountain Hwy out of Tumut, past Blowering & the dam & into the village of Talbingo for coffee.
Talbingo is popular tourist village for fishing & boating in the summer & close to snow activities in the winter.
More sun than cloud, so I got the camera out.
Continued on the SMH through Kosciuszko National Park enjoying the twists & the open runs & paying attention to both sides of the roads in the signposted "Brumby- wild horse" section. The piles of horse shit by the roadside is a clue. Next stop was Adaminaby with its Big Trout.

Re: Jindabyne Jan Feb 23
Day 4.
Jindabyne to Cooma, Monaro Hwy through Bredbo to Canberra & coffee. Then headed towards Murrumbateman but turned right at Nanima Rd to Nanima, then right to Gundaroo, left on Gundaroo Rd to Gunning, then Grabben Gullen Rd to Crookwell & lunch. Left Crookwell, Binda Rd to Binda, Tuena, Trunkey Creek ( beautiful up & down, twisty , winding Road through National Park / Conservation areas ),
Barry & the Blayney motel. That night was $20 steak night at one of the pubs, big tender steak with a heap of veggies,
excellent value. Walking back to the motel, a Wallaby coming bounding towards us on the footpath. When it got close it veered across the road towards a car, the guy slowed down & herded it up the next street & back into the bushland. Luckily for Walla there wasn't any trucks at the time. See, we do have them roaming the streets as many tourists think.
