G'day Fellow Bandit Owners,
I've just bought my first Suzuki Bandit about two months ago. Previously I've ridden BMW's and an FJR that I really liked.
My new buy is a 2008 GSF 1250S with 32000 kms on the clock. Originally it was a naked bike but I've added engine bars, panniers and a screen. I was spoilt by the FJR's adjustable screen and definitely need something to stop the wind buffeting my body here in windy Goulburn, especially in the winter. I'll fit heated grips later on too.
In reference to Old Boi's post about tires, mine came with Michelin Power tires on it, but they're way too soft for the kind of riding I do ie two up and long distances. I can watch them wearing out while the bike sits in the shed. My tire retailer here recommends Michelin Road 5 for the big Suzi.
One other small modification I've made for my wife is to extend the pillion foot pegs 100mm. Even though she's a short woman, she felt like she was visiting the gynaecologist every time she got on the bike. Her knees were above hip height which got very uncomfortable after a few hundred kms. Now that her feet and knees are lower, she's much more comfortable. I'd post a photo if I could see how to attach one. Maybe next time if anyone's interested.
So far so good and we're looking forward to many more happy trips on our new acquisition.
Safe riding to all,
Leon

Hi,
Just put Michelin 5 GT on mine yesterday. GT is for heavier loads. Panniers, topbox, tank bag on seat & towing trailer.

Hello Leon
My retailer suggested Road Pilot 6's....mainly because that is what was on the shelf but they were out of my price range by $200 so I bought a set of new RP4's and had them fitted. After 75km they are feeling better and betterer.
Welcome to the forum from another newbie here.

Very interested in how you extended the pillion pegs, my wife complains about the same thing (way to high).
any links to where you bought them or some photos would be much appreciated.

Extended pillion foot pegs on GSF 250S
G'day Bill n Ted,
I fabricated the pillion footpeg extensions myself from Stainless square tube 20mm x 20mm x 2mm x 100 mm long.
I inserted square aluminium bar inside stainless square tube (approx 18mm x 18mm x 80mm long) and screwed them together to create a mounting onto original clevis.
On RHS I made a small heat shield to protect my wife's boot heel from melting on the muffler.
Made up some tabs to mount foot pegs and Presto............ happy wife.
The whole process took me a couple of days of fiddling around. they're very much a prototype but we've done about 3,000kms now including some long days and I;ve had no complaints. Conclusion: happ
y wife = happy motorcycling
I've posted some photos which make much more sense.
I'm sorry its a bit messy the way the photos have uploaded, but I'm sure you get my drift.
Regards
