Clutchless Upshift
My riding group is split 50/50 on the concept of clutchless upshift. I’ve only just started doing it on my GSF1250SA after 11 years of riding it, and it’s soooo much nicer than constant clutch-ing. Thoughts on whether it’s ok or not on a Bandit?

Re: Clutchless Upshift
why do you need constant clutching to ride a bandit? Clutchless change are fine
Re: Clutchless Upshift
I always did on my Bandit. Used clutch from first to second but clutchless after that. In fact my VFR1200 (shaft) is the only bike I’ve never done it with. That’s due to mechanical sympathy over more inertia with the shaft and hub. My MV had a quick shifter which was bliss.

The gearboxes are designed for it. Unlike a car gearbox, ALL gears are spinning while ever the engine is running and clutch h is on output side of gearbox, that's why you get that clunk when picking up first. Design also means that you can only go up / down 1 gear at a time. Check out a video on YouTube etc. Totally different principle.
I use Clutch 1st-2nd only if just me. If 2 up, use it a bit more.

I was the same with my VX800, tried it, it changed ok but you needed to back off on the throttle for a smooth clutchless change which negated any advantage2wheelsagain wrote:I always did on my Bandit. Yep, you do need to back off a little.Chook wrote:I was the same with my VX800, tried it, it changed ok but you needed to back off on the throttle for a smooth clutchless change which negated any advantage2wheelsagain wrote:I always did on my Bandit. You need to unload the gearbox, no acceleration, no engine braking. I do a lot less gear changes on the Bandit, don't often bother.
Test rode an MV Tourismo Veloce with the quick shifter, fantastic.

Old mate Dale Walker does a quick shift kit for bandits with an optional push button hand control, gotta admit I’ve been eyeing one off!

Healtech also does a quick shifter. Simple to install. Just connects to the coils to interrupt spark which unloads engine power to allow clutchless shifting. Sensor senses shifter movement which send signal.
