A sobering good Friday
Woke up today to an SMS from my older brother to let me know one of his sons was in a car accident in the early hours of the morning. After having a chat to the family it turns out that four boys jumped in a car after the pub and didn't make it a km out of town before they slammed into a tree. One of the boys are no longer with us and my nephew is in royal Perth with some pretty serious injuries. For those with young kids instill in them the need to not only not drink and drive, but insist that friends don't either. Unfortunately in my neighbourhood it happens over and over a couple of years apart. Hope the rest of the weekend had no more bad news.

Re: A sobering good Friday
The crazy part is that they lost a really good friend less than 12 months ago to a car crash. We have all been teenagers and young 20 something's and knew better. It's a shit way to find out that we are all mortal, I am so protective of my son. But we have no real control of them once they reach that age. So far so good with the nephew, probably get some news in the morning as to how he is going

Sorry to hear that reddog. Condolences from Bev and I. We know the difficulties of trying to get kids through that stage of life.

Sorry to hear the reddog, I hope your nephew recovers from his physical injuries, unfortunately the mental scarring could be a lot worse for all involved
Condolences to the family and friends of the boy who hasn't made it.

No good mate.
There`s not a lot that one can say.
Like you said, we were all young once, and things happen in life. We all seem to get touched by this in some way, whether it be through family, a friend, or a friend of a friend. But its never easy, and as you say, "sobering"
Hope he heals well, without long term adverse affects!!!

Young Gage has a fractured hip, shoulder and six ribs broken near his spine. He has a lacerated kidney and liver and is currently in intensive care. His mum tells us he is okay, but very sore. They have him on some good meds, but it's going to take a fair while to recover. Thanks for the well wishes lads. Hopefully the message will sink in to the other local kids.

It sounds like he's bloody Crook but at least he'll get through it RedDog. It is very sobering when you hear a story like this. My thoughts are with all concerned.

Sorry to hear your news mate.
Maybe your Nephew, after he has recovered can use his experience to talk to the local kids and hopefully teach them that "yes it can happen"

Re: A sobering good Friday
I mentioned this to my wife @madmax I will bring it up in a few weeks after they have said good bye to their friend and things aren't so raw.
On a good note he had been discharged from hospital and is back home. He is a pretty sore boy according to my wife who dropped some meals off for them. In time he will heal.
