Mick Hone Suzuki

Goes into liquidation .Not good .
For a while now I have been worried about Suzuki . Please tell me this has nothing to do with the Suzuki brand .Our local Suzuki dealer has pushed Suzuki upstairs (hidden ) to concentrate on the ones that sell well  YAMAHA .

That's bad news , he has been around for a long time .

Since 1979.

The world is changing. I blame the interwebz.

I`ll support Australia when ever I can. But through online shopping, it has turn the way we all buy, on its head.

As the AUS $ has hit a low, its not viable to buy OS, and as such, I`ve been buying AUS, and one such business, has been Mick Hone.

If buying in Australia, he`s had some of the cheapest OEM prices around.

Its a bit sad really.

My mum worked with almost 200 other women in a tailoring factory. They all lost their jobs when the company folded. The owners reopened a year or so later and all of the suits now come from Asia.  
Free trade, they call it. 
My dad worked with hundreds of other men in a ship yard. They all lost their jobs when it folded. Again, free trade agreements . I'm sure that everyone has a similar tale to tell. 
Over the last 20 years Australia has lost so much industry & as a result, skilled labour, hopes and dreams and promise of employment for the next generation, all in the name of trade with other countries.  
We may have trade partners but at the cost of much more than just jobs. 
The tariff drops in the 80's has caused the slow, cancerous decay of so much of Australias business, large and small. 
Mick Hone being just another victim of poor governance of our country.  
Things may have been more expensive, had we kept our trade sovereignty through tariffs, but more people would have jobs, more people spending, more tax, less national debt, more Mick Hones. 
People can't be blamed for buying from the cheapest retailers, it's the nature of business. But, our government can be blamed for selling out Australia's best interests in the name of globalisation.

It's not just buying from OS Bosco, SA is fast becoming a backwater, lowest mainland wages and one of the highest costs of living.

Last week I purchased a motorcycle tyre repair kit, inc postage, $5 cheaper than I could get one in Adelaide and it was delivered to my door.

Yesterday, a set of brake pads for my son's Subaru Liberty, coming from Sydney, saved $10, then a trans service kit, coming from Melbourne, saved $7

When I bought my last helmet I'd just bought a new bike, looked online, tried at Peter Stevens for size, they wouldn't come close to online price (2 other local dealers I hadn't just spent over $12K at did better), from Melbourne, pair of $80 gloves, a chin guard and breath guard thrown in, saved over $200 and it was on my door step 24 hours after I ordered it

The Chinese workers are already looking for better wages and conditions. So in the future goods from China will be just as expensive as they would have been from here, except there wont be anyone making anything here because the skills will be gone.

Price is important sure , but I believe so is personal service .....as an example , for a few years I ( & Sue ) had a sea change & bought a 7 day a week mini mart . We were obviously in general ( apart from when suppliers ( eg tobacco companies ) got behind us with specials to run, than the larger supermarkets , but we found the local community were not fazed by paying a bit more by coming to us .The fact that we knew who they and their family were & were always good for a bit of a mag & would go out of our way to get something unusual neither us or the supermarket  stocked, all helped to make then feel just that bit more special .I may be old fashioned , but I always use the checkout operated by a person , not the faceless ones you do yourself .................one day there won't be anybody left to give a happy smile to you when you go shopping ..............sad really.

Next he`ll be one of those, that are on the one way trip to Mars.

So if you need an oil filter for your Mars Rover he'll be the man to see.

Kawasaki country in Bunbury closed up shop at Christmas time. They were one of the best shops near me, had they sold suzukis I would have bought the Bandit from them. Sad times indeed
