Brand new to the GSX1250FA
Hi
Richard from Auckland NZ here.
I picked up my new 2015 GSX1250FA last week.
Gave up my old 2004 GS1200SS that I had from new.Loved the old GS but it was
showing it's age...bit like me.
It did me proud over the last 10 yrs...see here.RRRacing
So I am new to this fuel injection thing after all my yrs of just carbs.
But so far I am impressed by the smoothness of the motor and the fueling.
But the seat is way too high for me.The old GS was a real "sit in it" bike with a super low 770mm seat height.
So I have been on to Dale Walker about his Holeshot/Corbin seat. But while I am waiting I have fitted my own Lowering links.
Also have a 35L GIVI Topbox and brkts on their way.
Just fitted a Tank Protector Film Kit from the Tankslapper site.
Lastly I have an R&G Crash Protector Knobs kit that I still have to fit.
Looking forward to many years of riding my GSX1250FA.
Thanks
Richard

Welcome to the forum, Richard.
Gongrats on your new bike.
Check that the seat is set up in its low position. It has to do with the placement of the rubber blocks.
Awesome bike when sorted to your requirements. I reckon that they are a lot of bike for the money in std form & only get better with a few tweaks.
Some great info on this forum and lots of great characters.

Welcome to the forum Richard.
The seat on the GSX1250Fa should be set in the low position from factory. You can easily tell by the amount of gap there is between the seat and the frame. If you need to adjust it this page has a good write up on it.
I can testify the R&G crash knobs are worth the price and effort.
Next on your list should be a radiator protector

Thanks I checked it at the bike shop before I took it home and yes it is definitely on the lowest setting.
It is just that my legs are on their longest setting and still don't touch the ground.

Richard
I sort of know how you feel. I'm just reaching the ground with the balls of my feet.

Welcome Richard. 11.7 isn't too bad on the gs. Best time I managed on the Bandit was an 11.04 many years ago. I've not been back to the drags again to see if I could beat it though

Re: Brand new to the GSX1250FA
welcome
I am in Kapiti. Have a 2014 model. I have the opposite problem and needed things a bit taller!
I have bar risers (20mm), the Suzuki touring screen, custom Rider saddle from Mac in Tauranga and a Nitron shock which raises the ride height a tad. At 196cm I still scrunch up a wee bit on this awesome bike
I have a scorpion slip on, scott oiler, hot grips and a full set of givi hard luggage on her as well. You will find the FA does everything well and is well suited to NZ roads, just dont go daft on the metal!
I have put 21000kms on mine in 9 months, longest trip was a tad under 3000kms in 5 days riding. Do give consideration to a custom saddle from Mac, if you are thinking of a Corbin or Holeshot this is comparable if not a bit cheaper in $$$ plus you have local recourse for issues and its built for YOU not A.N. Other. Drop him a line and he can explain what he does. Rider Saddles
The folks here are awesome, lots of experience and knowledge and very gracious in sharing it. Use them!
Hope you have many happy kms with your FA.
