Question for the Brainstrust
I'm setting off for my epic journey south soon. Wanting to take in all the best roads I can. Will be doing the Oxley on the way down. Then my plan is to make it to Singleton and do the Putty as well. My question is. Has anyone been from Nabiac ( on the Pacific Hwy ) - Gloucester - Dungog - Singleton. Wondering what the roads would be like Cheers.

Re: Question for the Brainstrust
Google street view shows the road between Singleton and Dungog to be narrow but in good nick and sealed. Don't know how old those images are.

Re: Question for the Brainstrust
Hello young Hammy.
Finally someone doing some of my "local" roads.
I assume you are going to do the Oxley from the Walcha end.
Am I right in assuming you will be doing. Grafton- Nymboida - Ebor - Armidale - Uralla - Walcha? A good section.
Watch for a very unhappy man in a strangely painted car in the vicinity of Walcha. This also goes for a 10km radius from Gloucester.
This map shows the section from Wauchope to Dungog I have included a detour we use to avoid the highway but the simplest way is to take the Southern Exit of the Taree bypass and head to Tinonee, rather than go via Nabiac.
Google maps might show you a route from Wauchope to Taree via Comboyne Rd, don't do it unless you particularly like dirt.
Wauchope to Dungog
The section from Dungog to Singleton is straight forward, Bosco and I did it in the opposite direction last year, bit rough in places but a good run to East Gresford. Unless you count farmers stopped in the middle of the road just over crests, but that's another story.
Coming that way you turn right at the big signpost where the Bank Hotel is on the corner.
Dungog to Singleton
Happy to offer suggestions if you want to run your route past me.

Re: Question for the Brainstrust
If you took a bit of a trip West on the Thursday (5th) you could catch up with Myself, my daughter, Rayman06, SuzySuzuki, barry_mcki, madmax & spanna in Hay then were all riding up to Hay via West Wyalong where we'll say goodbye to Barry as he heads off to Canberra for a nightHammy wrote:Kiwisteve wrote:Is this the start of your trip to Parkes Hammy? Re: Question for the Brainstrust
A huge thanks to all for all your generous advice and offers. It just goes to show what a great brotherhood ( in general ) the MC fraternity is.
ps. I have had the same sort of response from another forum which I frequent. Shall remain nameless.
