IXIL Hyperlow L3X silencer
Hi, I bought an IXIL Hyperlow exhause from ebay for my 2012 GSX1250FA. The suppliers description was "slip on with no modification". Went to fit the thing last night and found that the pipe on the new exhaust will not clear the graphite seal/gasket on the bikes exhaust pipe. Emailed the supplier and they said the seal/gasket must be removed as it is not required with the IXIL. I am reluctant to do this as it looks like it is bonded onto the pipe, and if I remove it I will not be able to refit the factory exhaust if needed. Has anyone had the same experience? Is the seal/gasket easy to remove? One option I am considering is taking the new silencer to the local muffler shop and have the pipe expanded to "slip on" without removing the seal/gasket.

I think it is pretty common for the graphite seal/gasket to have to be removed for aftermarket slipons. Certainly is with Yoshi cans. The trick is not to lose it after you remove it in case you ever want to put the standard can back on.

Davo it should come off without too much issue. Then use some muffler seal on the new joint

My Beowulf was fitted with the gasket in place but it was a bastard to get out. They're about $22 OEM so dont stress too much.
If the link pipe isnt a super tight fit you'll get some popping on decel but with those short pipes you'll probably get popping anyway.
When my Beowulf gives up the ghost I'll go a Delkavic but they look good.
