On The Go, Visor Cleaning.
Attention all you brainy members out there. Barry !, Jim !, Paul !, sorry about that one.
We need to come up with some device that is small and easy to use on the go, with the left hand . To clean away dead bugs and flies that have splattered on our visors whilst riding along. The amount of times that I have thought: "OK. I will clean that mess off at my next fuel stop". And I wish for miles that I could wipe it off , but I know if I try to it will only make it worse. Don't say "Tear offs". A squirt and a wipe on the go is all that is needed. But how do we do it so it is easy, and not in the way. Anyone ?

Lift your visor up and enjoy the different flavours. Just watch out for the big ones with yellow stripes. They're a bit chewy.

I carry a can of Pledge (the blue one for plastics). You can guarantee that the moment you don't have it, a fat blowfly will go splat right in the centre of the visor.

Chux cloth folded in a plastic zip lock bag with enough window cleaner soaked into it. Works a treat
Remove pre soaked cloth, wipe visor clean, reseal in ziplock bag and carry on riding. Happy days

I always carry some of these. Very good, non scratching like some others. Around 20c each.

Re: On The Go, Visor Cleaning.
I am with Gus, can of Barry Sheen's finest. As I do a lot of riding at night it's the easiest thing to keep on the bike with a couple of cloths (one to wax on one to wax off) after a few cleans with the same cloth it is hard to find a clean spot that won't leave streaks on the visor. I also use it on the headlight/spot lights. It's amazing how many bugs can collect over 600-800km's in the dark. Quick wipe at fuel fills/stops is all it takes to see again.
I have seen gadgets that attach to fingers on gloves to wipe off bugs and wiper blades, never bothered with them.

Re: On The Go, Visor Cleaning.
What I am really asking, is for a way to clean the visor without stopping. Has anyone else thought of that ?

That's my method RD, I carry it in the little tank bag, but I do have to stop. I also have a mircofibre cloth to buff it afterward. As you say "works a treat"
PS cloth can begin to smell bad after a couple of days.
PPS just read 2wa's post

Thats what I think too Gus. Just get off the bike Hammy, you could buy a lot of MrSheen for 30 quid!
Re: On The Go, Visor Cleaning.
Take Jan as pillion with windex in one hand and a chamois in the other .( otherwise she will need to ride alongside of you , but this can be fraught with danger ) A quick nod from you, & hey presto with a gentle spray of the windex , & a wipe of the chamois , clear vision is once again restored .
Personally , I think seeing where you're going is overrated anyway

cleans the worst bugs off and leaves a film so the next lot don't stick too hard, I've been using Mr Sheen on my helmet and visor since the 80s

So why didn't you want to go with the tearoffs ?

Re: On The Go, Visor Cleaning.
And you would look like a proper dork wearing tear offs on the road.
Looks like I will give Mr Sheen a go then.

Mate, I'll be interested in further comments after we go through the Bombala/Cann Valley region next year on the way to the Island - it's bug capital of Australia in the Summer! Here's 2WA's helmet from a trip a few years back in that region:
