Fog City Anti-Fog Visor Insert

Post  Ewok1958 on Mon 27 Jun 2011, 5:28 pm

Put a Fog City Hyper Optics light reactive anti-fog visor insert into the helmet on the weekend and tested it this morning.

It was -4C this morning (probably at least -6C (static temp) on the Fadden hill which is in severe shade and has ice everywhere). Good weather to test the visor insert. Did it work?

Bloody brilliantly - all around the insert was completely fogged up but not anywhere on the insert surface despite extreme amounts of warm breath. Would have to give it a big thumbs up. Got it from Canberra Motorcycle Centre for $50.

I understand some helmets come fitted with anti-fog visors but if yours isn't one of them, I can highly recommend this product.

Fogged my glasses up before I even left the driveway so rode without them. The visor insert didn't suffer the same fate.

I had one of these worked really well

However keep the helmet in a warm dry place as if the visor is subject to constant cold damn weather the film on the insert peals off.

I have now changed to the shoei inserts and these work really well too. The beauty of these pin lock ones is that if you scratch your visor and it needs replacing you don't have to shell out for a new insert Very Happy

Try using a small (and I mean small) amount of dishwashing liquid or shampoo on your glasses, it helps to stop them from fogging up.

Years ago my school bus driver taught me that one, no window demisters on the old busses. So when I started riding bikes and needed to wear prescription glasses I thought I'd try it on them, and it worked well.

I did have one pair that it didn't work so well on, these had some sort of coating to stop glare from lights at night. It also didn't work on my wifes Shark Helmet - but I don't know why.
