Engine cuts when engaging gear.
Hi all so this morning I start my bike to go fora spin and when I put her into first gear there's this massive clunk sound and the engine cuts out and the display shows a message chec. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what the issue could be and any possible solutions. Thanks.

Side stand switch maybe...................(Sticky clutch plates will also do it , but it's not that common on the Bandit )

Thanks Paul!! I wasn't aware of this must be a safety thing. ( I haven't had a bike for nearly 10 years so apologies for being so dumb!)

I remember your hurt very well with my last bike GC. Not knowing about side stand cut-out switches from a 20 year gap of riding bikes. Can be very embarrassing in some cases!

Also look for the "check" on the dash, shown when bike is in gear and will not start also shown when the kill switch is turned to the off position.
One thing I have noticed though is you can start the bike without the clutch lever engaged. Other "modern" bikes I have owned require the clutch lever to be engaged before the bike will start.

Your switch has been "modded" Cal. We do need to pull the clutch to fire the B1250Cal wrote:Also look for the "check" on the dash, shown when bike is in gear and will not start also shown when the kill switch is turned to the off position.
