Bubbling Paint!
Anyone have any ideas on what's going on here?
If I didn't know the cases were alloy I'd say it was rust coming through.
Thoughts? Solutions?

Re: Bubbling Paint!
It still may be alloy corrosion, especially if the paint had never adhered to the surface properly!
I had a similar thing with our screen door, & the alloy on that had started to corrode

Does it feel solid or does it feel like flaky/spongy paint? Either way, seems a bit odd.

It does look like alluminium corrosion to me, if you do sand it back and it looks like white powder thats what it is, no easy fix, one way is to remove all corrosion by sand blasting or similar, luckly alluminium is fairly soft, you may just be able to sand it all out depending on how deep it goes.
One thing to remember when refinishing alloy is to keep it very very clean, and use a quality etch primer that is corrosion resistant.

My VX800 did the same on a couple of covers when it got to about 18 or 19 years old

Then just touch it up with finer snd finer grit and then cutting paste and the polish and move onto the next part, hey Gazzar?

Re: Bubbling Paint!
Oxidisation. If it wasn't painted, probably would not have occurred. Just a "dirty" spot on the alloy before it was painted. A few years later...... Won't be too deep. Easy fix.
