anyone brought a helmet from the states huge price diff wondering if any diff in the same make etc helmet other than the huge$$$$ diff.

Not me.  I won't buy a helmet unless I've had it on my head.  

There is no Oz compliance sticker on privately imported helmets. Snell is not recognised here. This can be an issue if someone in the constabulary decides they want to look you over real good.

While that's technically correct if its the same lid that's available here and you're prepared to fight any fine in court you'd likely win. Where you expose yourself is with any TAC type claim. The insurance co will mount a case that you contributed to your injury by wearing a non approved helmet.  And thats a battle you or your remaining family are unlikely to win. 
If you reckon that's worth a 30% saving every 5 years or so go for it.  Personally I dont.

g/day well I ride a Suzuki boulevard vl I live in w.a sth of perth getting on a bit 59 but still enjoy riding tho mainly a fair weather rider nowdays.
me wings have been clipped lately as getting over a shoulder op but back in the saddle soon looking forward to that freedom.
im married and love to travel and have done affair bit.
