Owls says hi
G'day bandits
just dropping a line to say hello. new to site (have dropped in from time to time, but first time posting today, see mech problems on poss fuel problem)
been trying to get myself a bike for sometime now and after 20 years of moaning about getting a bike she's finally let me
I've got myself a GSF250 bandit that I've had now for a couple of months. just passed the P's test (this week) however the bandit started playing up just as I was about to do my test so ended up having to hire a bike from the test centre at botany and then first ride on it was my test!!
I've posted separate thread re problems I'm having with it at the mo. hopefully will get it to start and be able to get it home today.
anyway I'm learning quickly about bike mechanics , didn't have a clue just 4 weeks ago what a carbie was but having stripped them down three times and cleaned them to the point you could eat out of the bowls, I'm a lot more confident about them now.
just have to sort the fueling prob out now and get the bike home
stay safe

Welcome to the forum Owls - saw your post about the running problems but I can't help there as I know nothing about carbies (or fuel injectors for that matter).

Welcome to the fold owls
Is the 250 a 2 or 4 cylinder?
Don't worry about answering the above question, just saw the other post

GSF250's are 4 pot screamers.
Other than the CBR250 these are one of the better learner bikes out there. Good luck with fixing it owls

Hi Owls
Welcome aboard. Just jumped in to the site myself. I know what you mean about the 20yrs....... I'm still suffering everytime a new parcel arrives too. Maybe I should tell her it's one of those carby thingys. Sounds nice and technical..... I will have to tell her carbys look like exhausts though and hopefully she won't look at google.
Never ridden a 250 bandit but if they are anything like all the others you will enjoy it.

Thanks for the welcome guys n girls
got the bike fixed, it was bad fuel. carbys where full of junk and one of the needles was almost stuck solid
They where only cleaned a few weeks ago and had been running awesome all weekend
I had to refuel on way back and stopped at Caltex in Hornsby heights (Galston road), 48 hours later I'm having problems!! just saying!!
anyway I've put fresh fuel in and shes purring like a kitten now

Caltex at HH .. I like that servo only for the tyre inflator (the old type), I'll not be trying their fuel then, thanks for the tip.
