Noob from Sunny Coast
Hi
Just purchased a black GSX1250fa. Great bike but some additions likely to occur in the near future. Will add luggage rack, screen and new exhaust (get that pipe sounding sweet).
Have had a number of bikes over the years and just moved from V Strom. Definitely prefer the GSX.
Living in the Caloundra area and moved over here from UK 10 years ago and won't be rushing back any time soon (or at all !!!)
Warning!!! Any technical information I offer must be ignored at all times as I probably got brave after some homebrew and thought I could answer something technical. I have no technical skills whatsoever but am looking forward to learning from others.

Re: Noob from Sunny Coast
That's a very good question. Spent far too long researching that and looks like I'm down to considering a Zero Gravity (hear they can crack nastily) or the Givi touring screen (that may be the one for me). Don't want to make the bike look too bad but do want to minimise wind buffeting. I'm 5' 11" and the bike is on standard setting which is lower I think. The stock screen is far better than the 2012 V Strom I just traded.2wheelsagain wrote:Welcome aboard.

Check out the MRA screens. Very good quality. I had a zero gravity on my 1200. The quality was no where as good. MRA do a touring one.

Re: Noob from Sunny Coast
Oh no!!!! I'm gonna have to identify my next weakness Decision making.
Thanks for the info madmax and hammy. Have looked at powerbronze and MRA. Both seem to get some great feedback on the Interwebthingy.
At 5'11' I may have to go for the touring MRA but do like the double bubble of the powerbronze. I think I'm just splitting hairs really and anything is better than the stock, which seems a step up from a V Strom.
I think I'll just procrastinate for the weekend before pulling the trigger. Now where's that homebrew, the special one that I use for decisions!!!

Welcome pdrider!!
Nice choice of bike.
A Pom on Homebrew. Interesting...........
I work with a Pom, & trying to understand his native tongue is difficult at the best of times. He assures me he IS talking English,
but I can never tell!!!!!

Re: Noob from Sunny Coast
Ha ha Chief. Yes not too many Poms making their own warm beer mate! I make it to get a more varied choice and trust me that's exactly what I get
Now, not sure what dialect your Pommy mate talks as in the UK you can catch another accent every 500m. The further up the country you go the harder they are to understand too. Just say "mines a beer thanks for asking" and he'll soon get better.

Re: Noob from Sunny Coast
I think that just might work, although he's accent is VERY strong & is harder to understand when he thinks everyone does understand. Then he relaxes & speeds up, just making it impossible to know what the hell he is talking about. Everyone starts asking, " Did you understand WHAT he just said???"pdrider wrote:Ha ha Chief. By the way, sorry for calling you a "Pom".
I know us politically correct Aussies are not allowed to call Poms, Poms anymore, are we.
Only Poms are allowed to call Poms, Poms. We all know a Pom. We all know Poms are Poms, its just that we cant call a Pom, 'a Pom'.
Only thing I don't know is 'why we cant call a 'Pom', a 'Pom???? I don't think Poms mind being called Poms, do you???? It's a term of endearment.
Same as the only ones allowed to tell 'Irish' jokes now are the Irish. "Go Figure"
& now kids have to sing "Ba Ba bloody RAINBOW sheep" THE WORLD HAS GONE MAD..................
Enjoy the Homebrew.
I used to drink with a bloke who was big on homebrew. His shed was filled with 'Fermenting' slabs.
On a warm day, you would be there drinking next to his shed, & all of a sudden 'KA-POW'. The things would start exploding.
It was like being in a war zone. He thought it was music to his ears. "Ah, they're nearly ready".....

Re: Noob from Sunny Coast
Chief, that's the problem when politicians try to get involved in what is acceptable and what isn't. I don't care what someone calls me and in fact I'll probably be the first to suggest it myself!!! Names don't bother me at all. For political correctness gone mad you just need to go to the UK. Been getting worse every year since 1970s.
Politicians never did understand the world really!!!! They don't understand lane filtering either otherwise they'd see the benefits there too.
