Selling Bandits........
Has anyone had any great success selling bandits on here?
I'm just kinda thinkin most of the audience here would already be owners so prob not best place, but then again maybe buyers would seek here, hence my question?
I'm looking to sell mine, but its pretty tricked up n mint n low kms, so looking to get good price, Ive lost count what spent on it, its lots, I know you don't get it back, but just wondering where be best place to advertise.
Anyone got any input?

Re: Selling Bandits........
Remember that there are still some brand new ones around for about 10k and the gsx 1250 fa is on special for a grand off rrp.
I have a 2009 1250sa that is a very clean bike but it does have 84000 ks that i am selling and in my experince its worth not much more than $5500
Bandits are a bit like toyota camrys great, reliable, value for money but shit resale

Re: Selling Bandits........
yeah I'm hearing you.
Mine has all in my signature, 2007 1250s, K8, prob spent near 3k on it, never dropped, absolutely mint, and only 15,000km always garaged. Givi gear is 1500 bux extra on a new one n that's before you start tuning.
but I hear you, ideally I think Id be happy with about 8500 that's with givi gear etc, if wasn't gonna get that think I'd be takin it off n transferring to my new one for 300 fitin kit, rather than add 1500 to new bike cost.

Re: Selling Bandits........
Bandits have always been a bargain buy , but usually not so good if you're on the other end of the sale .
Try bikesales.com or bikepoint etc..................you might be lucky or put it on consignment at a dealer if you have the time to wait .

Re: Selling Bandits........
I sold mine last week through bikesales.
It was a 2010 model with a ridiculously low 3,000 kms. Took all of my gear off it apart from gear indicator (non atre model).
Got $7,400 for it after 3 weeks.

Re: Selling Bandits........
yeah thanks guys
think I'll have to drop my expectations on my bandito..(
I am gonna take givi off it, maybe tre, maybe even shift lights , its all extra that doesn't gain you any dollars.
Im down sizing to a vstrom 650, coppers round my way dishing out bans to speeding bikers like lollies, cant take the risk, big fine n points was always a risk you took but bans are just an unacceptable risk I cant take, for a moments madness which as we all know is all too easy to do!, would mean job n house n that's way too serious not to mention the now popular $2197 fine, seems to be max n they givin them out over 140 clicks.
Ive always liked vstrom, was gonna wait for new 1000 model next year but figure might get in as much trouble with that, the 650 does the job, tours good n will load up with mrs on back, n whilst can still get me a speeding fine, doesn't have the capability of a wrist flick to ban speeds, plus its time I got the hoon outta me n slowed down.. before I get in serious trouble, Ive had super fast bikes for years, even joined the 300km club, time to slow down before my good fortune runs out !

Re: Selling Bandits........
I always thought that anything less than 1000cc was too small for two-up touring, but having read this epic trip of a bloke and his missus in ADVrider on a 650 V-Strom travelling from Texas to Alaska and back changed my mind.Ron173 wrote:

It's as lengthy a read as it was the trip, but plenty of good photos, ideas and suggestions for long trips.
Sounds like you're on a winner Ron.

Thanks Barry, I'll have to have a read of that one. Yeah seems good bike, plenty good praise around, I wont be doing quite such a big trek, but its good on fuel (has consumption viewable on clocks) and comfortable.

Gps ,sat-nav ect ,5 mate to protect you from the gollywoggles and kutamundras ,
road side assistance , give me a break on calling it "adventure riding "
Trying to sail (old time ) off the edge of the world THATS ADVENTURE . Bourke and Will's
adventure . The poles on foot ,adventure .
How much is one of those bmw "adventure " jackets so you don't catch a chill . SOFT COCKS I tell you . ( wink and smile optional )

LOL
The adventure bike thing to me is just advertising hype, I wont be going on 'the long way round' or any adventures, its just a bike I like, n my trips apart from ocassional commute to work, consists of a weekend away with mrs wherever, n we go self sufficient, its all in the panniers, tent, sleeping bags cooker clothes etc etc.
I guess if folks wanna stay in motels that's up to them, I do find the whole GS thing a bit wank though:)

Re: Selling Bandits........
Ron, why would you buy the V Strom and not the GS? The V Strom doesn't even come with its own pop up tent on top! And don't Quote me on this but Im pretty sure the 2014 GS comes equipped with a fold out kitchenette that includes a coffee machine and free " How to be a better Barista " DVD.

Anytime your feeling lucky bring the road bike of your choice and try this little track my brother and I did on Vstrom and VFR1200 Crossstourer.

Re: Selling Bandits........
I guess "adventure" is what you define it as....
personally, my "adventure" bike has taken me some places I would NEVER get a bandit, and no I'm not talking Queanbeyan
I got a KLR 700 as my "first" bike, it's fun and with the knobbies on it goes lotsa places and can carry a good deal too... Nice easy (ish) to work on single cylinder motor with plenty of rolling power
I got a bandit as my "second" bike cos the KLR ain't fast enough ON the road, however it kicks the bandits arse off the road... horses for courses....
and yeah honestly you can keep your heavy beemers.... meh.

Re: Selling Bandits........
I never much liked the idea of the boxer engine for off road riding due to its weight, but for long distances its wonderful. I just want to know where I can buy a tent to fit on the back from

Re: Selling Bandits........
Actually the R1200RT is pretty light compared to its competitors 259kg wet compared to 290kg for FJR1300, so around a 1250 Bandit.Baz wrote:I never much liked the idea of the boxer engine for off road riding due to its weight, but for long distances its wonderful. The 1200GS is around the same weight as the DL1000.
So the Boxer isn't really heavy, now having the cylinders sticking out the sides like that....
I don't know though, every time Obi Wan saw a little sand, down he'd go.
They seemed to have a heck of a lot of gear on their bikes, not keen on the front panniers.

How about 500 kls of sandy dirt from Cairns to Cooktown return on a Gs 1000 .
