Exactly right Cal, My Wife is a high school teacher and has been studying the book " The Invention of Hugo Cabret " by Brian Selznick, with  students for a few years now. The movie was based on the book. Selznick obviously got his inspiration from this doll and its history.

we`ve got a young lad at work who`s doing a cadetship as a mechanical engineer, now he`s a nice young lad, and I was quizzing him what they teach him at college, and he said one of the projects they had to do was build a trailer, I just laughed and showed him that, and said build that for the teacher and see what he says
