Bird Strikes Empty Bird Strikes

Post  Baz Sun 16 Jun 2013, 5:24 pm

I was zipping around the OPH today and a bird had got caught between my forks and worked its way up and exited on the left side of my handlebars ... after a little assistance from me, all while travelling along at 60ish km/h through the best set if twisties in the sydney region. I damn near sh!t myself when this live thing started panicking in my steering gear  affraid

The fact that the bird sort of hung around on your bike for a while you were doing the twisties adds some real challenges Shocked. Strike!

I had one of those big, long-tailed ground dwelling birds - we call them pheasants here - leap up, whack my clutch lever and left hand, and then flash past my helmet at bout 70k. Scared the living heck out of me as it leapt from the side of the road. Strike, I wondered what was attacking me - big, brown and launching from the ground Shocked. But this was over in a second and fortunately I was on a wide straight section.

Well done Baz on extricating the bird and conquering the twisties all at the same time.Very Happy

My best experience with birds and a bike was on Currumbin Creek Rd and yep the birds were parrots and they were flying beside me much like a pod of dolphins riding the bow wave of a boat. Fantastic.

Nothing quite like a giant rabbit jumping out in front of you to make the sphincter tighten!

Sitting around 140kph on my way back from Darwin to Adelaide, A small eagle diving from above, hit my left shoulder, Instant dead arm, Then after the initial shock I look down and its laying on my lap looking at me! I picked it up and thew it off.

I always think of the scene on wild Hogs Smile
