Just A Thought.
Sometimes I just sit in the shed , peacefully, and look at the bikes. In my mind the silver 1250 looks ok but is not the looker that the red 1200 was. My thought is this. Get the wheels powder coated a different colour. Maybe a blue. That would go with silver. Orange would match but then it would be copying Honda. I don't wont to polish them. The bike is bright enough now. What colours do you think would go with the silver Bandit. And can someone put up a pic with different coloured wheels. I dont know how to do that stuff. Trying to think of old silver race cars that had race stripes, like the GT40. Kinda limited to black, blue or orange. Without going too outragious. Maybe a project for this winter.

Hammy, if you have the Bandit calendar, you'll see Deke's Bandit with gold wheels and forks. I reckon it looks great and I'm intending to powder coat my wheels gold (later this year).

I looked up from the computer screen, and there it is. Yes he has done a nice job. I'm not that keen on gold though.

That looks great . But maybe not for the Bandit. I'm thinking a nice blue. Not dark. Sorta old school .

You could always paint the bike to match the black wheels & gain that little bit extra power

@Hammy stop looking at the bike and ride it mate. The Bandit is never going to win a beauty contest
In saying that I sparked up a conversation with a guy at a swap meet a couple of weeks ago. I was admiring his old Suzuki Katana and he came over and said gday. I mentioned that the Bandit was the newer version of that motor, maybe not so much the bike though. I still reckon bang for buck we can't whinge. My old mate Jimmy Bandit has a cool old '96 street fighter that has done bulk kms. Most people these days would rather look at there bike than ride them. The Bandit is a mile muncher and is pretty multipurpose. We've even ridden dirt roads on ours, doesn't do much for the paint work though.

Righty O. Anodising it is. Found a mob down the highway that just does anodising. Here is their link: http://www.agradeanodising.com.au/Services.html Price . 50 bucks a wheel. I recon thats a bargain. The helpful lady told me that they do not strip paint off. But that should be easy. And the shinier the aluminium is then the shinier the finish of the anodising. Sounds like my winter project. Hey Ewok . They even do Gold !

Re: Just A Thought.
Anodising puts a thin (between 5 and 30 micron) oxide over the aluminium, for a longer lasting finish it would be best to protect it with a clear coat. The process also invovles a bit of acid etching but I don't think it would affect bearing surfaces, but might be worth checking that out as our wheels will be different to the normal car wheels they would see. Should look good though.

I asked them if they do motorcycle wheels and they said " Yes, we do a lot of them ". I will enquire about the clear coating. Cheers.
