Sh!t a Brick
The last couple of thousand km I have been unhappy with the Bandit idle.
Sometimes its lumpy and 1000rpm. Once it was stuck at 1500 until a restart but mostly its been bang on 1150.
Until this morning when there was no cold idle at all. That is fire and stop. Fire and stop. I started it on the throttle and held it at 1500 until it lumped along clearly under ritch for the conditions.
I rode to work and it pulled fine and fuelled normally but after 40km it still had a low 900 ush idle.
I parked it in the shed and transfered my gear to the Hilux and restarted the Bandut after 5 mins and she settled on 1150 again.
Where the hell do I start with an issue like this?

I had a similar issue.
I reset the computer by putting the negative terminal on the positive and i havent had a issue since
another thing i have found is if you dont regularly change sparkplugs the idle goes to shit aswell. Cant explain it but usually 10000km and i need new ones. The ones i pull out look good to , put as soon as you start on the new plugs she idles nice and smooth again

Are the throttle bodies synchronized? Have you checked the tps is correct at closed throttle?

How does that explain absolutley no cold idle RD?reddog wrote:Are the throttle bodies synchronized? Have you checked the tps is correct at closed throttle?
When its idling at 1150 its perfect. When its off its as lumpy as shit but ride it and it pulls as good as ever.

Re: Sh!t a Brick
I once had a guy drop off a CBR 250 saying it wouldn't start. after a look I found no spark at the plugs. The plugs looked new but I replaced them anyway. Started straight away, ran perfect. Found out after talking to a few race guys that plugs in a CBR are only good for 4,500 ks. Definately turf them after 10,000 Chris. You also need to do learned value reset, but when you do it make sure you hear the valve grunt otherwise it's not reset. If your up this way I can put the laptop on it .

Well it started at work yesterday afternoon without a problem and was idling correctly when hot when I got home. So its still a mistery.
The reset sounds like a good idea in any case.
I wont be up for a few months Kaupy but I will take you up on the offer next time. Thanks.
The original plugs did 24,000 without this carry on and still looked new. I will pull this lot when I get back as I dont have much time before I go. I will tell my mate not to worry about it if it doesnt start for him.
Thanks again.
