New DL1000 VStrom Concept

As much as I love my 1250FA, after doing a few touring rides with blokes on adventure bikes I reckon one of those will be my next bike.
They're comfy with lots of leg room, handle all road types ( especially the crappy pot holed excuse for roads we have in NSW ) & and don't lack any real world performance.
Will be interesting to see how the new VStrom 1000 concept (pictured above & big tip to go into production) will compare to current crop - the BMW GS1200, KTM Adventure 1190, Triumph Explorer 1200, Ducati Multistrada, Moto Guzzi Stelvio, Honda Crosstourer, Yamaha Tenere, & Kawasaki Versys.
I'm sure it'll be a pretty good thing, reliable - that 1000 twin, like the Bandit motor, has been round for years. Will no doubt have traction control, ABS etc.
I reckon it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper than the majority of the competition as well !
Cheers,
Bucky

Seriously? Is it like a challenge for makers to see who can make the most ugly adventure bike?
EDIT; I do realise function over form however

That looks so close to the Multistrada. I wouldn't bother with these bikes. If I want a dirt/enduro bike I go and ride my DRZ400E. If you want better range bigger tank and softer seat, at least they can taker a fall without causing $1000's of dollars in repair bills.

The headlight screen and beak looks like "Miss prissy" out of the old loony tunes foghorn leghorn cartoons.

Might have to "get new mates".......
The buggers can stand up comfortably on the pegs when they feel like a stretch. They were just as quick through the twisties, & didn't slow down when the road got extremely rough !
Cheers,

I wonder how long until the Bandit gets a bit of an update??? The new strom 650 is not bad, the 1000 though....the front end could do with a bit of more work. Still, good to see Suzuki slowly update it's range. Hell, they even released the Busa with ABS

I don't mind it. I've recently been considering an 'all roads tourer' and the old 1000 VStrom always looked a bit too 'old man' for my liking.
Mind you after riding to Tathra and back last Friday/Saturday, I'm in no hurry to get rid of the Bandit.

Why do you think there is a nice mountain in the background ?To stop you seeing something that looks like a mutant duck .

Re: New DL1000 VStrom Concept
I like it, a lot!
my previous bike was a DL650, & I've been looking at the Versys 1000 as a possible replacement for the Bandit. The only thing that I didn't like about the DL650 was the tire size - as I don't ride offroad I wanted to be able to fit proper touring tires - the Versys gives that option.
any upgrade/change won't happen for a while yet so will be keeping my eyes peeled for more info.

Ha ha ha, I reckon you're right phill.
Apart from that, it's a good looking bike.

I just realised it's a 'concept' which means the bike that gets put in to production will more than likely bare little resemblance to this.

Re: New DL1000 VStrom Concept
The pommie MCN site reckon it's going into production & will be pretty close to the one displayed at the Cologne INTERMOT motorcycle show.
Whether they have a good source, or are just guessing is another matter though.
Cheers,
