Stain on Cat
As I mentioned in another post I have this unusual stain on the outside of the cat. It is not the normal yellowing you get from heat.
It does polish off but it is hard work.

Mate that is the start of the heat mark. In another 10,000km it will cover half the cat. I'll show you.

I'm at 9,500 now, and why is it so local, looks alot like something dripping on it.
So is my best option to knock out the inside of the cat?

Re: Stain on Cat
is there a correlation between this stain and fitting of an aftermarket can?
I had this stain as well and an R77 yoshi fitted and after a while couldn't be bothered trying to polish it out. After refitting the standard can the growth of the stain seemed to stop.
it does look like something is splattering onto it though, if it were something dripping wouldn't the stain continue on to underneath?

I don't think so, It was there before I got the staintune
Not if the heat from the cat dried it off instantly, preventing it from going any furtherBaz wrote:it does look like something is splattering onto it though, if it were something dripping wouldn't the stain continue on to underneath?

Re: Stain on Cat
I think I had 2500km on mine before swapping. Still had stock muffler on then too but my riding was long trips and hot exhaust.
Suzuki were changing them at the time. It was a recognised manfacturing fault caused by heat.
Mine now covers about half the cat but hasnt grown in a couple of years. Been a yr or so since I tried polishing it out.

Re: Stain on Cat
You need to polish it harder and longer for it to change into "Akro","yoshie" or "Arrow"
5-10mins does not work you know.
There is also a special creame you need to use.
Oh, the dark stain to the right in the pic is what your talking about

Re: Stain on Cat
Bash the cat out or buy a set of aftermarket headers. It's the only two ways you'll be rid of it
