Upgrading the trusty GSX650F for a GSX1250FA
Hi from Mackay Qld,
I've owned a GSX650F for the last 2 odd years and have found it to be a prefect little all rounder. I have been doing a little more distance riding lately, so decided it was time to up the power level a little. The idea was to get a litre bike. After riding a number of different machines, I was finally convinced by the local dealer to take the big brother of my 650 for a ride. I enjoyed the bike, however struggled with the idea of buying the same bike I owned, albiet a little bigger.
Long story short, I collect my GSX1250FA on Saturday when I get back into town.
First up will be a Beowulf exhaust, got one on the GSX650F, and after seeing the radiator guard pics on this forum I'd say I'll be getting one of them to.
Cheers
Carl

Welcome to the 1250 but I hear you. I think I'd struggle with the big brother thought too unless it came down to $$.
What else did you test?

Welcome,
From what I can tell the 650 is only slightly lighter than the 1250.
I think you will enjoy the extra power in what is basically the same bike.

A sunny North Queensland welcome to you Carl aka car_ham.
This is a bad forum for me cause I get envious of all the mods/upgrades other Bandit riders do to their bikes but it is a good forum cause it also gives me good ideas, advice and a point in the right direction.

Thanks for the welcome
The other bikes in the final running where the Kawazaki Z1000, Triumph Sprint GT. While the Z1000 was a great bike to ride, it's was over the top on price, the Triumph I found was quite agricultural in it’s feel, which disappointed me, as it was the bike I’d settled on before going for the test rides.

You can easily see where Kawasaki spent the other $5,000.
There is no way you could call them or the FZ1 over priced.
If it comes down to budget the Bandit wins but they are built cheap. Just remember that
I agree on the Sprint GT. Trumpy should have kept the ST going with its shorter wheelbase and lighter bike over all.
