My name is Richard Wainwright and I'm a US citizen residing in South Florida. I've been riding for over 40 years and have owned approx. 40 motorcycles in my time. I have had 4 Bandit 1200s, 5 or 6 1100cc Gold Wings, 1 1600cc Gold Wing, 4 1200cc Yamaha Ventures, 4 Kawasaki GPz 1100s, and 5 V65 Sabres. I do most of my own work on my bikes and I really love riding - obviously.

Oh yeah, I used to race Moto-X back in the day, too hard on the body nowadays. I campaigned an original 250 Honda Elsinore, one of the scariest bikes I've ever ridden. That thing was faster than stink!!

I am parting out the Bandit to help my 84 year old disabled mum pay some medical bills.

Anything else you'd like to know?

Best Wishes,

-RW-

Hi Richard,
great to read about your history.

Can you tell me please - what weight are the racetech springs, and are there racetech gold valves with them?
what is included with the Barnett clutch, and how much work has it done?
what would the postage cost be to Australia (2620)?

Cheers,
Tony.

I do not remember the spring rate, sorry. If it's any help, I'm quite sure they are fairly heavy duty, I weigh 220 lbs. and they felt great to me. I do ride pretty *fast*, and needed something that would not give out on me when pushed hard. No gold valves, sorry.

As for the clutch, it has about 20k mi. on it and I am *very* gentle on my clutches. I typically get 50k+ miles on stock clutches, I suspect this one is good for 100k+ miles. And I did not drag the bike or beat the clutch, not my style - I like my bikes to last. The Barnett should give many more years of usage, they are *much* more stout than the stock units. As for shipping to Oz, I dunno, I could look into it if you're serious...

One other thing, one of the best mods I ever made to the bike was replacing the stock shock with the Gixxer unit. The stock unit is a POS, IMHO. The Gixxer shock's ride is "supple" when cruising along, but it firms up nicely when hammering the turns. Unlike the stock unit, it has both compression and rebound damping and is infinitely adjustable. Same thing with the spring rate, the Gixxer unit has threaded adjustment, not 5 or 6 settings, it is infinitely adjustable. And even though I'm a big guy, I have it set to about 40% of its possible range. This is a terrific mod for the Bandit, it really improves the ride and handling.

Best Wishes,

Hi Richard,
I would be interested in the rear shock if you've still got it and could provide a postage cost to Hallam, Victoria 3803, Australia.

Cheers,
Liam.
