Suzuki Convert
Hi everyone,
My name is Lyn a.k.a. Suzy Suzuki, and I am new to the Bandit scene. I have been riding a 2008 Honda CB400 Super Four for almost three years, when hubby suggested I upgrade to a bigger bike to keep up with his Tiger 955i. So I've surpassed him lol....My bike is now a 2009 GSF1250S (ABS), Pearl Dark Blue, and is hard to get used to the weight, compared to the little Honda.
I am not mechanically updated though, so I just read Road Rider reviews, and online stuff, trying to get some knowledge, when I discovered this site, so bear with me while I find my way around.

Where am I... not in the kitchen making sandwiches...
OOps, my mistake, forgot my location!
I am in North West Victoria, near Swan Hill, where all the my rides are flat roads, and roadkill..... hence my tires get chicken strips realllllly fast...

You should pop over the border to SA & we will see if the Adelaide hills can cure those chicken strips for you LOL

Adelaide Hills are a callin'
You are so right. My husband will be heading back there in a few months, (just in time for good weather riding) and has ridden the hills on the Tiger. The worst part of going to Adelaide, is the Ouyen to Tailem Bend road... boooooring.. 5 1/2 hours!
By the way, nice to meet you all, and its great that this forum is only for these bikes, and not all the riff-raff

I'm not a sandwich maker
No we are def victorians, but you may have noticed some railway maintenance and construction happening around the area there. Husband has been based in Adelaide for past three years, but currently in Wagga Wagga, while son is now working at Hospital site with a different construction group.
Our daughter and I occasionally drive over to stay a few days during school break, when he was living at Glenelg, facing the beach, love it there, but the drivers are all crazy
I like to add that I have only been riding motorcycles for three years, wishing I had started 20 years ago though.

Re: Suzuki Convert
SuziSuzuki,
Welcome aboard.
Re the weight factor...
I went from a GS500F to the Bandit 2 mths ago. The weight on the Bandit seems to be top heavy in comparison to the GS's low down.
I put the seat on the lowest setting on the Bandit to help build up my confidence regarding the weight factor. I always put down 2 legs at the stop. As one leg is shorter than the other, this pulls me up leaning a little more to the left which is the norm I think. Right foot supposed to stay on the rear brake pedal.
As you ride your confidence should improve. What worked for me was the appreciation of that extra zing that the Bandit has.
There is no more f'ing around at the lights anymore with the Bandit. I can take off quick and create my own space with a good gap front & rear away from the traffic.
When my missus gets on the back, I put the side stand down in case it goes over on my short side. Once she is on and she's behaving, I am ok.
Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the forum Suzi. Hopefully, you'll find you don't need much mechanical knowledge with the Bandit - unless you start fiddling with things of course!

Hi Suzy (Aka Lyn!) and welcome to the forum... I'm sure you will find your normal 'riff-raff' here so you will feel at home - eventually!
I can only re-iterate what Ewok mentioned about 'fiddling' .... I can speak from experience (or lack of) and it ended up costing me about $1100... even though I'm not a complete dumbo when it comes to mechanical tune ups I found there are certain things that I should not attempt to improve!

The one thing I wont do is fiddle with anything mechanical, only to attach accessories

Hi Lynn welcome to Bandits.
I'm a big fat bastard with 30+ years on bikes and the weight of the Bandit when pushing on is an issue for me
As for the riff raff we have plenty here
