Chop chop off came the top.. of the screen that is..
First topic message reminder :
Made an windscreen extension. Used an old Nolan helmet visor. Heated the visor up in the oven to help get some of the bend out of it. Used double sided tape to mount it. Then attached some rubber car trim around the edge of the whole screen. Looks ugly. Went out for a ride and there is really not much difference. I do not have the orginal screen so have no idea what the bike is like to ride with that screen fitted.
I am very pleased that I have my Snoopy mounted to the front of the fairing. He was a fixture way back on my sidecar then the BM.
{EDIT!!!!}That screen extender is so ugly and useless I have taken it off.

I'll be most interested in the Vstream performance. I'm not sure though if they have made a screen for the gsxfa or not.
the windjammer did make a difference for the better on the shoei but I still required ear plugs .. much better .... I have fitted it now to the shark evoline but yet to try that.

Re: Chop chop off came the top.. of the screen that is..
I use a Nolan flip front so will always get wind noise from it. All of my flip fronts have done this. I started using them way back when BMW released their one in the 80s. Ear plugs do help I have found. I know I am deafer in the left ear compared to the right and this is from wind roar. The price ya pay to ride all these years.
I do not mind the pressure on my chest and arms that having no screen is causing. Way better than my helmet bouncing around my head due to the DB screen directing air at it from sides and front.
Out with the Dremel tomorrow and a tiny cutting wheel and cut the ZG DB down to the size of a OEM screen. Will report back my findings.
If I do not like this I think I may get one of those Madstad adjustable screens from the USA.

Ok 3 go at this. This time take one Dremel with very fine cutting wheel and lope the top off the screen. Can really see the bubble now. Which is what I think id causing all of the turbulence around the helmet. Won't knwo if this incarnation has worked till I ride it to work this afternoon.

If you want some and to look really stupid get some 2", or 50mm, lengths of wool and tape them under the edge of the screen and see which way they blow when you ride at different speeds. The problem for me was that the air roll off the bubble and then heads in towards my shouldres/neck area and creates a lot of noise as it hits my big head. Hopefully the Vstream, which is wider on the top area, will push this air flow away from my neck/shoulders.

Did it make any difference when you added snoopy to the front
Just the hole behind him is to allow air onto the inside of the screen which then meets the air coming over the screen and has some sort of effect (hi pressure meets low pressure lift effect etc etc )
I doubt whether he would make that much difference but small influences can sometimes make big differences
I tried taping the hole up in my stock screen today just to see and i do get a bit more buffeting around the helmet
I am 6'3" so i am a bit of a wind sail anyway

Re: Chop chop off came the top.. of the screen that is..
I like the chopped screen. I got to test it out on the way home from work just now. No buffeting for my helmet. Sure there is still noise from the wind roar but then again it is a flip front and they are all noisy. I will take it for a better run the next few days and see if I need to chop more off.
Snoppy helps the bike to cut the air better. He has been a faithful emblem on my bikes for many years now.

I took a further 4cm off the top of the screen today. I am happy with it now.

So what you have now is a prettier naked bike, I guess. I prefer the look of the bandit faired, so I think you now have the best of both worlds in some ways. Just buy a box of 200 sets of ear plugs for $50 and you're set for years
I already do wear ear plugs.
If I had the money to spare at the moment I would love to buy a Madstad screen and try that too.

I'm open to the idea of swapping steeds for a squirt if you want to give it a go (and see how strange it looks in the flesh). I'm up near Nelson Bay (sort of).
I am on the Central Coast.
