Chop chop off came the top.. of the screen that is..
Made an windscreen extension. Used an old Nolan helmet visor. Heated the visor up in the oven to help get some of the bend out of it. Used double sided tape to mount it. Then attached some rubber car trim around the edge of the whole screen. Looks ugly. Went out for a ride and there is really not much difference. I do not have the orginal screen so have no idea what the bike is like to ride with that screen fitted.
I am very pleased that I have my Snoopy mounted to the front of the fairing. He was a fixture way back on my sidecar then the BM.
{EDIT!!!!}That screen extender is so ugly and useless I have taken it off.

Duck!!! He is held on with a bracket that clips in and up between the two plastic cowls and some double sided tape. He had better not go anywhere I have had him for years and he has done many miles attached to my bikes.

Re: Chop chop off came the top.. of the screen that is..
Had another go at making an extension for my screen. This time O used the inner anti-fog visor from an old Nolan helmet. Heat formed it to shape in the oven in a set of pyrex dishes. Used some 3M self adhesive locking strips to attach it. At highway speeds it has cut back on the helmet buffeting I was getting. Not totally but makes the ride alot more tolerable.
Take 3 when I get around to it will be a wider and higher add-on screen.

No buts, just go to your room and don't come out until you've had a good think about what you have done.

I'm sorry.......
Trouble I have with the Bandit is I came from a barn doored BMW R100LT. So am used to riding in a still pocket of air. The BMW is going to be bobbed. Which gives me an RT fairing sapre as it will come off for the bobber conversion. So do I fit the RT fairing to the Bandit?????

Ross Ross Ross Ross Ross. Quiet now. Sit down. Now think about what your bike is called ? A BANDIT !! Thats right, BANDIT ! Big, Bad, Mean, and Angry. We have riders on here called Sloth, Potatomasher, Bhoffo, Gus, and even ones with no name, ie, 2WA ( whatever that means ). who eat gravel for breakfast and fart thunder. The mere thought of fitting a BMwubbleu screen to a fearless Bandit would bring untold evils and bad doings from men such as those. Banish such thoughts from your mind at once. Take two panadole and call me in the morning if thoughts persist.
I'm sorry guys. I tried.

Did you say take 2 potholes and call you in the morning?
I would really like to try the OEM screen as I feel this might in fact be the best option for me.

Consider buying a car. I heard they offer improved wind protection over even the most heavily screened Suzuki!

You got it in one. But I aim to get my car "L"s this year. Seeing as I am 50 this year I thought I should learn to drive.

Oh wow, that's interesting. Did you always ride bikes or just never needed a licence?

Have been riding since I was 16 and 9 months old. Had sidecars to carry the kids around when they were small.

Re: Chop chop off came the top.. of the screen that is..
I have gone to the other extreme and taken the screen off altogether. Makes the 12 look even more bug like now with those 2 mirrors sticking way up there.
I shall see how much I like or dislike the air hitting me in the chest now instead of the head.

Re: Chop chop off came the top.. of the screen that is..
Short ride in the rain and with no screen no turbulence at all in the helmet. Just wind pressure on the chest and forearms.
Have been reading on some Yank Bandit forums that most double bubble/taller screens on the bandits just causes turbulence and wing roar. Having now ridden without a screen fitted I fully agree with this.
So next step is to either buy a Chinese copy of the original screen off e-Bay for $24 or cut my ZG DB down to the same size as the original one.

I don't think you will be happy with the really cheap Chinese one, I got one and it is thin and a poor fit, you may be better with a slightly more upmarket copy.

Re: Chop chop off came the top.. of the screen that is..
I changed the screen on my 1250s to a Givi which was slightly longer but with a more upward kink in it. I thought it would improve airflow but it actually directed more into my neck and helmet causing turbulence and buffetting so I sold it and refitted the original. Having said that, I think the Givi would have been good for a shorter rider, say, 5ft 10in tall, or shorter. I'm 6' 2".

Re: Chop chop off came the top.. of the screen that is..
I started with the standard screen and got hit with lots of noise and wind pressure around the bottom of my helmet so I changed helmets (3 times) and tried three diffferent jackets ( 2 alpine stars and 1 no name brand) and still had a headache even with moulded ear plugs. Ordered in the Suzuki 'touring screen' form the USA and still same problem so added a Windjammer to bottom of helmet (Shark RSI) and with Astars jacket only got same noise but hotter head due to less air flow. (Have since sent Windjammer to Baz). Put an MRA XCreen on top of the 'touring screen' and still no better. Have since orderd a VStream screen - it looks a bit like a barn door but it might do the trick. Have not got it yet but should be here next week.
I use the Bandit (a 1250) for general road duties so don't mind if it looks a bit like a barn door - have a 996SPS Ducati for proper duties.
