Fuel Guage Empty Fuel Guage

Is it possible to accidently upset the fuel guage when you take the pump unit out of the tank? Why? I hear you ask. After the bowser started flashing at the last block I then rode another 34 kilometres to the petrol station. The tank only took with a squeeze, 14 litres which means there were still 5 litres in the tank. Doesn't the bowser on the guage only start to flash when there's 5 litres left?

that when mine starts to flash, when I have 5 L left. I normally ride about 80km after flashing starts before I bother getting fuel..... Only once have a needed to use reserve and that was 115(rough)km after light started flashing....

Yep, about normal for a 1250. My last bar n bowser flash letting me know that 5ish litres is left in the tank. When the last bar vanishes, leaving the bowser flashing on its own, its time to fill up coz there's about 1.5 litres remaining.

You can bend the float bar but its tough and you need pliers .I did, then bent it back .

I've owned 4 bikes with fuel gauges and by far the the Bandit is the most useless.
Can't comment on the GSX but i don't need to be flashed when there is 7lt left (more than 1/3)
Lucky I'm ready to stop at 250km Very Happy

Here's one for you to try. Turn on the ignition and check the fuel guage (how many blocks?). Don't start the bike.Turn the ignition off. Now, Hold the throttle fully open and turn the ignition on. Don't start the bike just look at the fuel guage. How many blocks?. I did it today. Don't ask why. And with the throttle fully open I tured the ignition on and there was 1 extra block on the guage. No I haven't been drinking. I did it again to double check.
