facebook - not cool

With the happenings on facebook I'm not sure I'm happy with it being associated with these Forums.... I have subsequently left the facebook group and if the behaviuor there filters over to here I will stop using these forums.... If I am the only bothered by it then thats ok. The great thing about our world is if you don't like it then you can leave.

I understand the forums are well moderated HOWEVER it appears facebook is not and it is a much more public image of these "bike club".... Not an image I want to be associated with....

I don't use facebook full stop.
Was on there once but now never again.

A couple of rounds? I didn't attack anyone in particular... Just didn't like seeing the language being used. I didn't try and prod anyone, but diffuse the situation.... Looks like I failed miserably. Hard to get across sarcasm online....

Not 100% sure about what you are talking about, but I think I get the gist. It seems the #1 problem with this "FB" forum thing is that anyone can say anything about anyone, at any time. Especially younger users that are sometimes at that tender age when words can offend, and hurt. I see it only getting worse as how can this type of medium be controlled ? It's like someone has set an empty train in motion, out of control, and with an unhappy end. Just get on ya bike and into your own 'headspace', and not someone elses. Peace.

Everyone I know is on Facebook & they all tell me dont get one. So Im not.

I find facebook to be a great medium actually. You can block or remove things you don't like, which is what I did with the SBA facebook group as I wasn't happy with it. Now I don't have to worry about it.

For example, my sister and her partner are is the US at the moment. Facebook has been a great tool for following their trip as well as video calling for my very young children to "see" and talk with their aunty.

People that are victims on facebook will be victims regardless of whether facebook exists or not.

Its the same argument as riding a bike or owning a gun,
Bikes/Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

FB has caused me and mine problems at times but its like a bike, it can be fun or a handy tool, or a place where tools hang out!

I keep it light or funny same as here and it works OK.

I followed the hole episode with sadness as I could see where it was going to end up for the people involved but that's life on FB.
