Christmas Riding
Just wondering who is riding over Christmas
Who’s prepared to run the double gauntlet of extra drivers on the roads who don’t care about us and extra police & “safety” cameras whose sole job apparently is to save us from ourselves
Personally although I have Christmas and Boxing day off this year I think the bikes will stay in the garage for a week until the mayhem dies down a bit
There is little point me riding my favourite roads when there will be extra 4 X 4’s across the centre lines on bends because the lazy bastards don’t know how to use a steering wheel
I think I’ll be doing a bit of shopping, watching some cricket and apparently there is a yacht race on. I’m usually working so I’ll just kick back for a couple of days
If you are riding stay safe and remember there are more of them out to get you at this time of year
Merry Christmas everyone

Might go for a short ride into the hills with one of the kids, just to keep the battery charged! Other than that, the Bandit will do more kays gettin wheeled in and out of the garage just to make room for working on other toys. Too many d1ckh**ds on the road over the break - more than usual anyway
Merry Xmas to all
Merry Xmas to all

Re: Christmas Riding
I will be on the road to Chester Hill on Boxing day to see my parents and kids. Rain, hail, extra Highway Patrols or shine.

As a 4x4er and a bike rider I get the bullshit comments like this from all sides.4wheelsagain wrote:There is little point me riding my favourite roads when there will be extra 4 X 4’s across the centre lines on bends because the lazy bastards don’t know how to use a steering wheel
There are stupid bike riders (as evidence from todays trip to take the kids to the dentist), stupid car drivers, stupid 4x4 drivers.......... in fact lets just say there are stupid road users of all breads that have one thing in mind "It's all about me what I want. Everyone else be dammed" or at least that is the impression I get every single time I go out on the road.
Thing is, as a road user (no matter the weapon of choice) we need to be mindfull of other road users (no matter their weapon of choice) and do our utmost (best efforts, try our hardest, whatever) to ensure we survive and so do our fellow road users.
Where ever you are going to will not move and it will most likely still be there when ever it is that you get there, so there is no need to make stupid decisions to get there one car earlier.
Stay safe and have a thought for the other person on the road as well as yourself.
In answer to the OP, unfortunately I won't be on the road on the bike over the Xmas break and my wifes new knee is not up to riding at the moment and I'm playing nurse, house dad, cook, cleaner, general do it all.
That and I've got one 4x4, 2 bikes, a lawnmower, a wipa-snipa and various other things to do a whole bunch of preventative maintenance on (I do this every Xmas)

Re: Christmas Riding
No riding for me for a while especially over Xmas as i found out last Friday that i am having surgery ( ulnar nerve transposition ) on my right elbow on Wednesday 21st dec
This is the result of a workplace accident back in Sept and has been the cause of severe pins & needles and spasms in my hand ever since
All the time my boss was telling me that there was nothing wrong with me and the DR telling me it will go away
Went to specialist on Friday and he booked the surgery straight away, Nice Xmas surprise
Oh well onwards and upwards , Hope everyone has a great Xmas make sure that you eat too much and don't drink n drive
Maybe i can sit on my bike and make pretend while the pain killers do their job

Re: Christmas Riding
I doubt i'll have time for a pleasure ride. Maybe a commute or a local shopping trip, that'll be about all.

4WA - I'll give this a bit of thought and call you if there is a possibility - Xmas is looking a bit complicated for a number of reasons but I still need to get a ride in sometime to run up a few k's before WSBK (get get the new tyres and 24,000kms service) and you're between me and my old mum (that is convenient). It may depend on the exact dates you have off and my medical state (nothing serious but a mole removal on left arm on Thu, broken toe recovery and being able to ride the bike). And, no leave pass as yet!

Good luck with the op. STI-REX hope it goes well . Don`t get drunk & fall off your bike in the shed
( can relate to your problem somewhat , I`ve got Rheumatoid arthritis & when it flares it can inflame the sheathes which surround the nerves in my wrists & elbows / makes for an interesting time while riding the bike with numb or pins & needled hands )

Re: Christmas Riding
Hoping to get out for a ride on the 28th with my GF and travel from the Blue Mts up to Caves Beach (nr. Swansea) for my daughters birthday... if it's extremely wet (and it's looking as though it may be ) I may be forced to take the red cage.. If on the bike I'm hoping to carry on from the 29th up the coast a little way - maybe to Port Macquarie - and then inland (Oxley Hwy?) and have a few overnight stops on the way back through Mudgee (where I might have the bike serviced at Bikeworx on the way through) and arrive back in the mountains around 2nd/3rd January...
Was hoping to go for a couple of rides over the next few weeks - I'm off to Canada for a months worth of skiing from the 18th January so time is running out (mainly due to the crap weather we've been experiencing! )
