I was out today buying a couple of new fire extinguishers for the 4X4 (I do this every 2 years) and for some strange reason I thought of how I'd put out a fire on the bike should it happen (hopefully never does)

In most cases I recon I'd just step off the bike and walk (run like crazy) away from it and let the insurance sort it out, but in those cases where it's just a smallish fire and the distance back to town is a lot I recon being able to put out a fire would be a great thing.

A one KG extinguisher is way to big to carry around with you on the bike but I know there are smaller ones in a pressure pack style or like spray cans but I'm not 100% sure of their size or applicability (ie what kind of fire they can put out) or how they would survive in a top box or panniers (or under the seat for that matter)

please discuss

In my case I'd be praying I just drank a heap of coffee and write my name in the flames Laughing

EDIT: Found this for bikes http://www.aerostich.com/hawk-fire-extinguishers.html

i must admit i do prefer Cascade , but i stopped buying it when they reduced the size of the bottles - however they have now gone back to the original size, so i am buying it again

either product will extinguish most fires i think
