Fuel strainer price.
Has anyone come up with an alternative aftermarket fuel strainer/seller, for the 2009 1250 Bandit? I just got hit with a $47 bill for this, very simple, item. I couldn't, on closer inspection, spot the golden lining on it so figured it must be a rip off.

I have just cleaned mine and swilled out the tank .I now tend to do it every 5,000 kls .The tanks often off and empty so my as well .No cost and 5 mins . The tea bag filter could be a differant size ive seen one's longer but about the same width . Now if they used them for mowers or chainsaws
or anything BUT a bike they could be cheaper .Any one know the exact inner diam of the plastic part that slides over the pump ? Rough "bag "
size would be good too .

And yet it remains pink. I find it astounding that it's not flat black yet.

Re: Fuel strainer price.
Fuel strainer measurements.
Pipe = 14 mm OD, 11 ID. Top of the pipe to bottom of filter 24 mm.
Bag size= 52 mm long, 47 mm wide, 10 mm tall. Few curves here and there.
What I don't know is what micron the filter is.
If somebody were to come up with a replacement you would have to know this info.
To answer Paul's question. Captain. We take supplies and life stock from Tasmania to/from the islands North of Tasmania and Victoria as well.
What does everyone else do for a living? Another post?

Re: Fuel strainer price.
I looked at a fuel pump that come out of one of the quad bikes that the 3 guys did on the trip from England . It had been replace due to not working.
Same idea but bigger (yamaha ) Price of new pump assembly was $600 .Used a tea bag strainer .
You could NOT buy a strainer seperately .You can clean it but thats all .
All of a sudden $45 sound cheap .I havnt replaced mine but i have cleaned it .
If yamaha dont sell them perhaps they think cleaning them is enough .I dont see any "replace " in the suzuki manual .
I going to just keep cleaning mine mine .

Re: Fuel strainer price.
I did finish up putting a new strainer in. I'm somewhat paranoid about getting crap in the injectors. I cleaned the old one, teabag, with repeated dunkings in fuel, clean fuel every time, and blew compressed air through it from the in to the outside only. I hope I didn't damage the filter element in the process. I taped the end of it up with a bit of masking tape and I keep it in toolbag. If I do get another blockage this will hopefully get me home.
Re. jobs Gus. Nothing going at the moment. If/when you do make it to Tassie might be the time to enquire again. Best of luck with the job hunt.
