the pressures of tyre pressures
can i get some advice on tyres pressures please. i bought my bandit back in july. my first bike in 25 years, so i am very rusty.
the bike came with half worn pirelli angel, which due to a cash flow issue was replaced with a second hand bridgestone battleaxe which had done a thousand ks on it which now has been replaced by a brand new michelin road pilot 2
now the pirelli wore out from natural causes but i am not sure about the bridgestone i rekon i only got about 3500 to 4000 kilometers out of it couple of factor here one was it had been in storage for a couple of years so it very hard any way one mate rekons i should should run 38 psi another says 42 as per the book i reckon the higher pressure buggered it
now after coughing up 300 big ones i want to get the best life out of this tyre so can any one tell me the best pressure to run.
i weigh 100 kg , i commute to work and my daughter and i do some local touring, i am not a boy racer so i am hoping to get around 8 to 9 thousand kilometers out of it
so can any one that give me some advice to help get the best out of the tyre i would be very grateful

*Arrow race headers with Yoshimura TRS.
*PC3 with the supplied map and these mod got 123hp with 115nm of torque.
*Neville Lush Racing custom tune = 130hp with 125nm at the Tyre (Standard 98hp/108nm).

Re: the pressures of tyre pressures
I'm on my second set of PR2's and I commute and tour and scratch so here is my take.
I check the pressures cold in my garage its no good riding to the servo!
Rear 40psi but let it drop to 38 if only commuting because I'm a lazy bastard
Front 38psi while new but had to drop to 36 at the end of the old PR2's life because it wouldnt turn right.
I weight a bit more than you and I got 16,000km out of the last set.
I cant say what other tyres need to run at. Thats what I found works with the PR2's on my bike and how and where I ride

I run pr2s & run 36 front 42 rear Weigh 85 kg / I found I get best wear if I stick to what suzuki recommend not what the Tyre manufacturers recommend .

36 Front 38 Rear. 38 in the rear coz I'm 108kg and my spine doesn't like 42

38 front - 42 rear. Although I don't get to upset if it's 36-40. I weigh around 105kg and regularly carry a 55kg pillion. I got 15,000km from the last set of PR2's.

Re: the pressures of tyre pressures
Im only a little 65kg. I run 36 and 42. Never had a problem. Now i pillion, the same pressures feel good two up. My brother on the same bike, same weight runs his a little lower. i think 34, 38-40. Just depends how you like the feel with different pressures.

probably tyre pressures & chain lube & adjustment are the most forgotten about items in motorcycling / good to see your on top of it ( it will save you money in the long run .)

36 & 42 also.
My latest purchases have been a Pro-Oiler for the chain (excellent bit of kit) and a TPMS tyre pressure monitor for the tyres which I will feedback on once it's fitted. Got one on the car and it's most satisfactoryprobably tyre pressures & chain lube & adjustment are the most forgotten about items in motorcycling / good to see your on top of it ( it will save you money in the long run .)

I`ve heard the oilers do a good job & it will be interesting to see how the tyre pressure monitor goes . Is the oiler automatic or manually done ?

Re: the pressures of tyre pressures
I could not be happier with the Pro-Oiler; it is just a wizard bit of gear. I summarized it in the Product Review thread with some photos. It is electronic and once set up, maintenance free.
The Tyre Pressure monitor I have in the car is great; will do a review of the bike one once it is fitted.
