Plastic on Pipes
Heya,
I bloody well burnt my "Rain" pants onto the head pipes on my bike today while putting on the wheel clamp, very annoyed with myself etc... (and put 3 large holes in my rain pants to boot)
Do you think Tar remover (Metal cleaner) will also get off the plastic burnt on to the pipe, I will not get the chance until the weekend to try and get it off and am now worried that the next 4 days will cement it onto the pipe...
Thoughts or advise plz....

Get 0000 steel wool and add the polishing paste to it. That'll get it off. Problem is you'll make a clean spot and will have to do the whole system.
Enjoy. Works well - done same to get cooked tar off.

Get some stainless steel cleaner (industrial) from a company that supplies the metal working industries. This is a wipe on hose off mix of acids that will take of the gold oxide layer and even up that "clean spot".
Be extremely thorough hosing the product off - if you leave some behind, under a clamp, say, and heat the pipes up it will leave a black mark that you will have to polish off.
