re mapping
just been talking to matt from albion park
he`s talking about mapping to suit yoshi exhaust
if i put a new pipe on my 1250 do i have to get this done?
forgive me for being ignorant but i`m used to old school bikes
even my old gpz1100 didn`t need that stuff when i wacked
a new pipeline on.it just flew.
what is the benefit of drilling a 2" hole in the airbox?
just for the induction noise or does it work?
i don`t want to have the f1 light come on cranking
round a corner up the mountains
love some info from the experts

Re: re mapping
Hey. I've think that all bandits fuel maps mast be a little different (lean & leaner) . I had Yoshi can, K&N filter & air box snorkel removed & its power was up & run like a dream. But I think it was Gus had similar mods and K&N air filter made it play upbruiser2310 wrote:just been talking to matt from albion park

Re: re mapping
Only a little , but it was a flat spot at 4 grand right where i noticed it.But i do have a dodgy cut down can so that could have influenced it.

RE: re mapping
ok, i understand a little
so you guys are saying the bike might develop flat spots at certain revs?
i would rather run it a little rich so the top end runs cool being water cooled
i only want this exhaust so you can hear it.the bloody thing is sooooo quiet
but if i`m going to have to mod it i wont bother.
caught between a rock and a hard place.

Im running a K&N filter with snorkel removed and micron pipe and the bike is great. no flat spots no hesitation. Just lots of smiles all the way to the redline

Re: re mapping
If its just a note you are after then putting a pipe on will be fine .Personally i dont think you will get any more power but it will sound better.
Then again ,sometimes i put the standard can back on and think "thats so nice and quiet " Still big and heavy though.

Re: re mapping
If you buy a Yoshi from the states the insert will make it just about as quiet as the original and without it, it is just a nice sound. As has been stated the OEM exhaust is heavy.
Headers alone are around 15kgs. Replacements are 4kgs.

The stock can and link pipe are a poofteenth over 13kg. The CF Beowulf 380mm setup 4kg.

Stops it pinging its head of on hot days, runs smoother, better and smoother acceleration at all but the higher side of 6k rpm, 30-50kms more to a tank while commuting and it actually smells like petrol.
I found on the 650 I have had to dial back the fueling tho as it run poorly until I did. Same on the 1250
95 is 4 cents per litre cheaper here, not sure what it is over there but you get the same result.
BOT
If you just put a pipe on and that's it, no need to adjust fueling unless you want to achieve something the pipe alone can't. Extra fueling will make a difference but it's not needed. The extra hole in the lid, not needed unless you want to go at getting more out of the engine when it's a case of more in (air) plus more to drink (fuel) + more out (farts) = better output.
Running it rich so the top end will stay cool is a bit of a hang over from the air cooled days and is not really needed to the same extent in a water cooled engine.

Hard to believe we have the same bikes. My economy is worse on 98. No pinging on 91 but I buy quality fuel. Here 91 is about $139.9 with 98 cracking $1.55
Apart from the can I'm stock though and about 40 feet ASL
