Trivia .....
First topic message reminder :
What does everone think about a TRIVIA thread
Stuff that maybe of no use to most people but really handy to the others. Maybe a good DVD ,something they have made, seen ,heard of ,
cooked ,been too .Minor things that do not really warrant a post of there own.(like most of my stuff ,there beat you to it )
Like taking a tractor tyre up north to float your Bandit across a river to a football selection ,the taste of beer ,who's state is
better at Rugby League. (may be not that) .Something that may make someone else say ,"why didnt i think of that".
Good idea or just post it on "off topic discussions " or not post it at all? (feeling vulnerable now )

Re: Trivia .....
I have a boat . I noticed it hadn't been moved in 3 years so its now mine . Even came with oars . Must be hundreds of them around the coast . People just move away and leave them . Its a Tasmanian thing ,if no one tells you off in a week ,its yours . Ours came with a few holes but nothing silicone couldn't fix .We row out and tie up to a local yachts outboard motor and catch flathead . Tough life , and to think a small block beach frontage is still only $85000 . ( Pss it not that cold either )

Re: Trivia .....
Hi Gus,
Probably not a good idea to tell too many Crow Eaters that Tas is a nice place.
We've already got people who cut heads off of Barbie Dolls
Before you know it we'll have a major influx of even stranger people.
I'll be taking my dogs for a day trip to the snow shortly. It will be interesting to see there reaction to something you can stand on and also lick it (avoiding the yellow snow of course).
If they remain outside of the car for more than 2.3 seconds I will be surprised. If they do, they will get a snowball thrown at them to help change their minds.
I bought this at a garage sale in Qld some years ago. It was in a box of other junk. The seller had no idea what it was. A good $2.00 purchase.

Hi B Dave,
Is that a combination of paper, wood, sawdust, etc in your homemade logs ?

Today it is brown cardboard 'cos there is a shit ton of it at the house build next door in the skip.
Tomorrow it may be paper but I avoid the glossy stuff.
All of the framing timber (pine, what else!) is untreated in Tas so can be burnt quite safely
My present "pot belly" is a cheapy from BCF and it is located outside on the patio.
My next one will probably be a slow combustion also located outside on the patio.
When I lived in Canberra many years ago I had a slow combustion heater inside of the house.
This time the heater will be outside of the house and radiating inwards.
Firstly, I can hose the mess off the patio and secondly these "sealed" heaters made a mess of your internal paintwork.
As for the loss of heat efficiency. Just throw on more cardboard logs. After all, they are inexpensive ay!

Howdy Gus,
They will eventually be allowed to escape so best to keep this place a secret. That is if they are youngish. If they are old they will probably have already forgotten.
What was I writing about?
Ah, yes!
15C outside and 18C inside. I still haven't used the heat pump (RC aircon to mainlanders!). I'm only about 500m from the Tamar River which I think moderates the temperature a bit.
This house is very cleverly designed with insulation under floor (waffle pod), wall and ceiling insulation along with double glazed windows and doors.
I have just received my quarterly power bill. $109.00 with old fossil concession. Ssshhh! keep that to yourself just in case they are listening.
Solar panels. No way
At $400 per year for power, an $8000 solar system will take 20 years just to break even, assuming 100% efficiency which I think not. Even if I doubled my consumpion the breakeven figure comes down to 10 years. At 69 years old I'm probably better off using bank notes to start my fireplace (if I can remember where I buried them!)

Are you sure you remembered to dig them up & take them with you to Tassie ?
P.S. the yellow snow can be quite festive at the right time of the year .............

Howedy Paul,
I think I bought some with me.
I'm sure our leaders of this fine country will compensate me for any short fall
Have you ever tasted yellow snow?

Re: Trivia .....
Hi Dave . I must admit , that living in S.A. has deprived me of any contact with yellow snow . But , having seen what some dogs lick , I would think yellow snow would be well down on the " yucky list " ( names withheld to protect the guilty ) I can only hope the Ugg boots and scarves you bought for your dogs on arrival in Tasmania are long enough , and bulky enough to prevent any temptation presented by the yellow snow to your dogs to bend down and have a lick .
