Bmw k100rs
I bought this as a non runner 6 months ago for $300 ( $50 more than he was asking lol)It needed a better starter relay (had 4 spare ) and a new fuel pump (vn commodore fits $85 ).
Got a rwc and put it on SI rego and it was done . Trouble is ,look at it , big ,ugly, heavy . There was no way I had any attachment to it so it just sat there like the previous 12 years before I bought it .

Re: Bmw k100rs
Im not a fan of BOBBERS and Streetfighters have been done to death . I decided to try a make it look like a factory naked like the k75 but without the horrible bikini screen . No cutting was allowed I had to be able to reverse the look if needed . I also wanted it to look bmw ish but more modern .
Cost $16 for a headlight and bloody easy, and way lighter . Now I DO feel like riding it . Shame I had my ear attacked buy Mike Tyson 2 days ago (skin cancer removed )Ear wont fit into helmet lol

Shad, Coocase, Givi, Kappa, Oxford, SW_Motech, Moose or plain old BMW? Gus' has probably got a fair selection there already.
Looks really good Gus. Even without a top box.

Re: Bmw k100rs
I helped a mate get his K100 into running order.
He had destroyed the fuel management module X2 (the module is under the tank just before the steering head)
I have posted about this before as BMW use a type A relay. If you replace it with a type B relay (like the rest of the world uses) you destroy the module.
Gus, contact me if you are thinking of any changes like this before you do costly damage.
He did a repaint and also fitted a digital instrument cluster from Perth dealer (~$300)
It sold recently for $2000
It looked nice but I wouldn't want to own one.
If you need to clean the fuel injectors read on
Wire an automotive relay with the NC contact in series with the coil. This turns the relay into a buzzer
Connect this to an injector which is immersed in an ultrasonic cleaner filled with detergent/kero you choose
It took around 30 minutes for each injector to come back to life. Better than paying $80 each for replacements.

Cleaned the injectors using a 9v battery connected to them . (off bke ) There is no way i would play with different elec. bit . Its go now ,or get sold in pieces . ,It has been warned .

Re: Bmw k100rs
I assume the 125 will be an on-seller ,for you ..............wasn't the last one not suitable power / size wise for you ? The 550 came up well .

Re: Bmw k100rs
I believe my BMW K100 is possessed buy the Devil himself . I said I would deliver bike to its new owner in Hobart . It ran perfectly (100kls) till 50mtrs
from its new home ,spat the dummy about it and dropped onto 3 cylinder .The new owners drive way was an accident waiting to happen . Bloody step with all angles . A delivery truck weeks before had to get towed backwards to get out . Not dirt ,concrete .
Long story ,short , is I gave him his money back and told him to get a smaller bike . He had no idea mechanically . This bike wasn't going to play ball for him or me ..
Getting the bike home I checked heat on all headers . Number 4 cold ,remove the spark plug cover ,number 4 plug lead had come off .Bloody Hell .
I'm a bit of a believer that thing are meant to happen so not disappointed .
Today I go for a ride on it and its better than it has ever gone , it all makes sense with plenty of power . This puts a big smile on my face ,and then the internal fuel hose bursts and I roll to a stop with no tools under the seat 15kls from home . ( I took them out when I sold it ,and forgot to replace )

Re: Bmw k100rs
Strange thing is ,Gumtree as gone nuts over it with offers more than I accepted from the first guy . People wanting to give me money is strange .
Ive put so much effort into this bike I can not sell it until I beat it a enjoy a lap of TASI . I must be getting close . I had ordered some submersible fuel hose but was then told , " all fuel hose is submersible " . It lasted a week before splitting so proof ,BUSTED .

Re: Bmw k100rs
I agree that all BMW bikes are possessed and nothing short of an exorcism will be of much value.
Maybe surround the beast with a circle of stones (a bit like Stonehenge) as a beginning, then do some more research on a suitable ceremonial end to its evil.
When my mate sold his K100 a short time ago he said he was very relieved to have sold it.
What he didn't understand was that I was more relieved than him having spent multiple hours getting it into a reliable state for sale.
He has since bought a CB900 (1980's) which he is lovingly restoring and can do the majority on his own as it is typical of Japanese bikes i.e. designed with a bit of common sense including a little slack in the wiring.
He will never buy another BMW. He has learnt a very valuable lesson.
Good luck with your ultimate sale. Make it soon!!

Re: Bmw k100rs
I see it is only a two seater. I wonder if they make a sidecar to suit. Probably need to check with Barry.gus wrote:Replaced with one of these ($400)
Just bear in mind the engine is smaller than most motor mowers.

Re: Bmw k100rs
Its worth more in parts than as a whole bike (bmw ). Seeing I paid $300 for it id don't really care if it blows up .
It sat for 12 years . Id be grumpy to if after a 12yr sleep I was awoken being probed .
