Mirror Extenders

Post  Ewok1958 on Mon 25 Oct 2010, 8:02 pm

Bought these mirror extender blocks (and screws) from eBay (out of Hong Kong) for about $35. They look like they are good quality. Don't know what they are made from - probably some sort of polypropyl resin. I will hopefully fit them sometime this week and be able to report on them after the weekend.

I have the same ones - they've worked well for me. All I used to see was my shoulders, it didn't seem to matter how I adjusted them!

Funny thing is - with the standard setup I can see better on the left side than the right (both are clear so it's not a vibration problem). I barely need to move my left arm at all to see clearly behind me. I just can't adjust the right mirror to see past my arms. I am right handed but it's not muscles that are getting in the way!!! Might be the leaning tower of Ewok!!!

I'm pretty much the same way. It has taken a lot of fidddle arsing about to get my mirrors set up, but I still need to drop my elbows for a better view. Might give the extenders a try.

Fitted them after work today. They do add a smidge of extension (not terribly noceable) and they certainly didn't upset the clarity. They look factory fitted except the black color is a bit more of a matte finish than the glossy black on the fairing. I'll be leaving them on.

It's funny because I have no problems with positioning the mirrors on the b12, but I do have a problem with them vibrating.

Never seen those before. They look alright. I wonder how good or bad they look in person. Anybody keen to try before me? Laughing

View available before. Left and right. Is that about right Cam ?

View now is perfect .The look of them is a bit "geeky " and they certainly look wider .I may get used to it.My partner tends to ride behind me
most of the time so on a 2 week trip its important i dont loose her so these will help.
The big question is do they work ?---Answer-definitely yes. $25

The extenders for the naked bandit look good. I bought the simple block extenders for the 1250FA, about the same price as the ones above. Now I only see a hint of elbow in both mirrors, even when wearing my wet weather gear(which tends to billow up a bit when under way)

I purchased the mirror extenders for my 2010 Bandit 1250SA from Dale Holeshot in the USA.
http://www.holeshot.com/ and go to Bandit 650/1250 page then select mirror extenders.
They look just like the solid "plugs" shown by Ewok1958 at the top of this thread.
If there is one addition to your Bandit that I would recommend it is these mirror extenders.
I found that the base mirrors were way too short and did not offer a clear enough rear view.
The extenders are a breeze to install with simple tools and they offer a marked improvement over than stock but still are not 100% compared to other bikes I've had (most noteably my BMW K1200GT).
For the price (around $50 plus postage) this is a no-brainer ... just do it ... it is a safety improvement to your bike you will not regret.
